Seriously, if y'all got a few extra minutes, listen to that interview, and the hosts point blank ask Bennett what everyone thought of Jay doing that.

Poor Cutler cannot catch a break. People sharpshoot him when he is sidelined and cannot play saying he lacks toughness and then when he lowers the boom and takes out a defender he is criticized for risking injury.

I only discovered 670 on an app on my phone, while driving (I plugged it in before I drive, fiy). They were pretty annoying with "Why are we paying Hester if he's gonna call a fair catch? They're paying him to return kicks!" :eyeroll:

His own teammates were angry with him. This was not a responsible play.

I agree that Jay was wise not to slide. Considering the QB is marked down where the slide starts, he would have been marked short of the first down. That being said, it WAS dumb of him to smash into the defender with his throwing shoulder. Instead of doing that, he could have 1) used his left shoulder to hit him, or 2) preferrably, dove down head-first to the right of the defender. I know that Jay had to make a play there, but you absolutely can't have your would-be franchise QB who's looking for a $100 million payday ending his (and the team's) season because he took an unnecessary risk.

A lot to do about nothing to me.

We've all seen QBs, even the top ones, make plays that change the course of games that are amazing/clutch in the moment while being insanely stupid/reckless in the big picture. They're football players & expect them play like ones.

That play had me yelling 'YEAH!!!' & then a moment later going 'WTF was he thinking???'.

I understand your sentiment, and it looked pretty cool, but outside of John Elway doing the helicopter in the SB, there's no need for a QB to do anything like that.

    Agreed...

Just that there's no way to stop a QB from doing it. Rodgers tried to get in the end zone recently & got mauled by 3 defenders at the 1. Surprised he didn't get hurt .That was another insane play but one that you can't control.

Guess I've just learned to accept it.

IWAS WTF was he thinking from the get go

one of the rare times I'll Agree with Kingus ala Crappus Bernsteeen the weeny.

I am a Cutty fan. I want to see his azz protected as best it can be done.

I do remember another Bears QB that wasn't as fortunate when winning was on line

great hit and all,..... BUT he could have put himself out for this season with that move, Take yer chances on the slide Cutty,.... we know yer tough

I thought the exact same thing. I could see him winning a Super Bowl for us, with a stellar performance at QB -- and the media people dissing him because his "body language" wasn't quite right. :-)

AND what if he had separated his shoulder ??

There would have been another announcement along with Meltons yesterday Glorify it all want Take jab with Cuttys tough crap
I thought it was waaaaay REALL Cool like back in '85 when Mad Mac was scoring TDs then butting heads with his line men ,....... RIGHT UP until he was sidelined with neck injuries for having done such. That season's team the table was set for them to win

    This is Trestmans first season

Cutty's in his contract year and he needs to be more focused on preserving himself for the longer haul here.

Sorry I don't quite see it your way or the many other others way ,... I'd like to see Cutty here for another 3-5 years or so and not get injured in the process

It's been so long since ,....

Come on people, the last time I checked they were playing TACKLE football ........NOT FLAG football !
I have no problem with JC doing this and applaud his sand in doing so. This is a hit HE could control. Not like getting slammed in the pocket by a 300# lineman!
    ;)

He would be sorry if he got another concussion or dislocated shoulder from that collision. I hold my breath every time he is running around in the open field. I don't even care whether he gets the first down. It is just one play.

Actually Benji there is a espn article that shows that his run fired up his team and they went on to score two more TD's. Quotes from Bennett and others including Trestman support this as well.

I am unable to do a link for proof but you can find it on ESPN. The title is "Cutlers Run Also a hit with Bears".
Actually a good article for ESPN.
