Well said. They keep saying that they have a pension problem in Illinois. It's not a pension problem, it's a debt problem. People like myself made our contributions pay period after pay period and the state of Illinois was supposed to match it pay period after pay period. But the state of Illinois put IOU's in the fund with the promise of paying in the future. They never did and now the bill is due (people are retiring) and they don't have the money. They even tried to change the contract laws but that was a violation of the Illinois constitution. I think Blago needs a little company where he is staying and the Illinois General Assembly is a good place to look.

    This ^^^

It makes my blood boil. If you or I steal older people's retirement money (or run a scam stealing their retirement money) we would go to prison. But Illinois lied to these people, and robbed their retirement money. These are ordinary Illinois employees who worked all of their life serving the public, often making crappy salaries - but they knew that in their older years, the pension would be there. They faithfully paid into the pension - payday, after payday - year after year - decade after decade. But Illinois now wants to take their pension away, and not fulfill their commitment. It's just "wrong" man. Wrong.

I'm telling ya, if you or I did anything remotely like this we'd be in prison. Shame on Illinois politicians. Bunch of thieves, robbing these older people.

There you go. Meanwhile they - Illinois politicians - have the best medical benefits and the finest pensions courtesy of you and me. Makes you feel proud don't it? We're so generous - or is it stupid.

This is Illinois we're talking about here, hell, we're the only state that could've had back-to-back governors share a jail cell.

Except, once this gets thrown out by her surely awesome lawyers, the state will have spent even more unnecessary money chasing its own tail.

I feel sorry for the Illinois residents their going to nickle and dime them till their eyeballs fall out. I moved out years ago and pay way way lower taxes then my in-laws and I tell them all the time to move out but they just continue to take it. I understand if you're stuck at job and have limited choice but it's only going to get worse.

Well maybe the Bears can win the Superbowl and Illinois can tax all the rich players on their new gains. So win Bears for all Illinois residents!
