Bears MLB D.J. Williams has pectoral injury
    Friday, October 11, 2013 12:47 p.m. CDT
LAKE FOREST — The Bears may have suffered yet another blow to their defense, specifically the front seven, as Marc Trestman confirmed Friday that middle linebacker D.J. Williams has a pectoral injury.

The team will know more in the next 24-48 hours, but Trestman did say there is a chance that Williams tore his pectoral muscle, which would be a season-ending injury.

"Those are always dangerous," Trestman said about pec injuries.

Williams left Thursday night's win over the Giants and did not return. Rookie Jon Bostic saw playing time on defense for the first time in his career and played 21 snaps.

This season, Williams has 27 tackles, four for a loss, two sacks and one forced fumble.

Some good news on the injury front is that James Anderson's back injury that kept him out late in the game is "nothing serious," per Trestman.

Called it as soon as he clutched his shoulder. Bring on Bostic!

I know most pectorial injuries are season ending but hopefully in this case Williams will be out a few weeks to heal up and we get him back for the playoffs.

Just from seeing Bostic play last night, he's definitely ready to go.....also glad Anderson's injury was nothing serious.

That's not good, the D dropped significantly after DJ went out.

I hope Bostic can learn fast, because he was our best blitzing linebacker.

Its a perfect time for Bostic to get some playing time. He was drafted to be our future MLB, and right now...with all of our injuries and craptacular play by our defense, its not as if our defense was going to magically change into gangbusters starting next week or something.

    I agree HB,
Tru Jimmors but he creates an even bigger issue in pass coverage then what was there originally.

If we were relying on our defense to win games, then yeah...thats a huge problem. But seeing as how our defense already IS the problem, might as well get him some playing time so he becomes a better starter for next season.

The D, regardless of how bad it is, was still limiting teams to an average of 25 points, only 2 under over 30 points; it hasn't been pretty, which while low, is still more then enough to allow a good O to be in games.

were getting beat up real fast, were not even in the midseason... lets hope bostic can step up, but im pretty sure hes not an immediate upgrade because coaches would have p layed him before willams. i hope you guys remember how our staff was waiting for dj all preseason and put him i n right away, i guess they dnt have too much faith in jon. lets hope he proves them wrong

Anyone else hoping that the Bears hold out anyone on the injury report against the Skins, essentially giving them 3 weeks to get ready for the Pack? I would rather lean on the O to outscore Washington and get those that have nagging injuries healed instead of them staying injured all season.

I think that was why many of the starters didn't play last night, BearsWin. I'm probably just being optimistic that they'll be ready to go NEXT sunday.

LOL.... I gotta just laugh at this point. I guess the good news is that injuries have to be ending soon. We will soon run out of guys to injure.

Well, the good thing about this is, the linebacker spot is the one position we have enough depth at to survive losing a starter.

Thank God. That can't possibly hurt as much as the groin.

Injuries are never a good thing, I trust the coaches know more than I do on who should start.

Well, now we have no choice so I hope the kid can stay healthy and learns quick.
