Stick to commentating Deion, you sure as shit cant run a school.
Disgusting - but then again alot of things are disgusting about people like Deion and those of his ilk .
This is where guys like this need to just give money in the form of foundations to help run the athletic programs for a city or an area. They, and most people they know, aren't going to have the first clue how to run a school, even if the intentions are honest(which it doesn't sound like this was).
Disagree. From what I saw, Deion, anyway, was just....ignorant of the situation.
....and that is what he did. I can't imagine anyone would believe he had anything to do with curriculum, administration, etc. He is a figurehead/donor. The guy who ran the place (headmaster/principal) is the crook/idiot.
The biggest issue with this is that they messed with kids ability to continue on to college.
It's one thing to fuck up one year of education, but to mess with their college eligibility is a major issue!
Yeah they are winning some appeals, but those take time. Probalby money they don't have.
This is a shame.
What celebrities know is that you put your name on something, you best not be ignorant. This is Deon's fault. It's not like he just gave them money to fund the school.
He was the poster boy, and using his name brought the kids. So he should have known better. I can't think of any decent celebrity that would throw their name onto something without monitoring it better.
After all, this isn't a gatorade commercial. This is a school that GREATLY benefited from Deon's name/image.
Deon is no saint in this. While he may have wanted better intensions for the school, he still was a "snake". Wallace is like 60% at fault, while Deon is 40%.
Ya Neon wanting 120K to be the "HNIC" b/c his name was on the school and that's what Wallace was getting shows he was hardly innocent in this.
Wallace was the real issue, but Neon is doing his best to scapegoat him.
I agree. Im sure Deion's heart was in the right place...to found a prep school to help athletic kids prepare for college as athletes, but he had no clue how to do it properly, who to hire, etc. Shouldve just helped other foundations.
Never liked the guy. Always full of himself. As really glad it shut down on him! Ha! Ha!
Yeah, he's too full of himself. Bad things happen to bad people!
Eh......not totally ignorant. Not when you know and understand a lot of the financial arrangements and want more money out of it. That recording and his behavior sure doesn't sound like he was very ignorant to me.
This same old story plays out over and over again. Some star athletes are so caught up in themselves and their narcissistic ways that they have no grip on realty at all. For the most part it's why they get caught up in so many illegal scams or lose money on very bad investments. Money is cheap to them because they've been paid millions for their services.
Maybe if they'd taken the time to actually get an education while they were in HS and college they'd be able to see through some of that crap.
If the state regulators discovered all of those problems initially and yet still approved the schools charter how are we to imagine that happened? If "Prime Time" had the gas to control the schools board of directors how may other palms got greased to get the doors of that place open? Sounds just like many other money grabbing scams involving specialty schools.
I have no love at all for these types of educational organizations or trade schools who get students to run up huge debts with promises they know full well they can't deliver on.
