Can't post link from phone but from his offical Facebook page there was a long goodbye Chicago post thanking the fans.

He had an amazing career here and would love to see him break the record here, but the game changed away from his abilities and he has lost a step. Thank you 23 for the memories !!

They can't "release" him, but I assume he may know they are letting him walk away.

I know people think he'll go to Tampa but if he's serious about adding to his greatness and more HOF consideration he should ally himself w/Toub down in K.C.

He knew it was coming a long time ago and so did we. He was the greatest returner of all time until he eventually lost his ludicrous speed.

Not a shocker, if you ask me. He will be counted among the greats of this team, but the writing was on the wall.

I just mentioned this on the other thread talking about him. I just read it also. No surprise, not really sad but I do wish he could have gotten the record here.

Its not the speed. It was the rule changes, plus losing many of the special teamers (blockers) and finally losing Toub.

Sad to see, wish he would have broken the record here...but it's tough to commit money to a guy who just returns kicks and nothing else. I don't think you'll see him in Tampa, they have enough guys who can return kicks and do other things as well.

Loved Devin but I wanted him gone after our Superbowl collapse when he could have fetched 2 1st round picks. I hope he has a good season somewhere else, my guess is Oakland or Miami

not a GM in the NFL would have given 2 firsts for Devin Hester, not even after the SB. 1 first at most, but he was worth more to the team then that.

Two 1st rounders for a KR? Not in a million years. Not likely even one first. Great player, absolutely electric. I held my breath every time he touched the ball on a return. Not many players in the game can do that. Will be missed but this is a new era.

I am reminded of a certain poster who cried for all of 2012 about us supposedly "spending all our money on STers", even though we spent less than $2 mil total on them, and were still able to get Marshall and others. We didn't spend those top dollars on special teamers in 2013, and look how much the unit suffered.

Thanks to Hester for being the greatest ever. You weren't a receiver and never should have played offense outside of gimmick plays. Lovie and Angelo ruined a good couple years of your career trying to "maximize" your contributions. But even with teams kicking away from you, you still electrified the city. And I will never forgive Craig Steltz for the dumbass holding call away from the play which took away your record in St. Louis.

I wonder if it'll surprise him when other teams won't pay near as much as what the Bears paid him? It doesn't shock me that he will not have his contract renewed. He would have broken the record had the team not tried making him a no. 1 receiver.

He should go to Denver. If teams are already scared of their offense, they're gonna hate having to choose to kick away from him
