Don't mess with it. Tuckers got it just the way he wants it!
Its something for the opposing offense to think about. Say Hester did line up on a slot WR. Maybe that would give the QB pause. Maybe it would make him look that way. Then again what happens IF he misses? Its something for folks to think about. I wouldn't mind seeing it if for nothing more then to see the offense's reaction. Better catch it clean. Better hit em stride. Who knows lol.
I like the head games
Remember if they were happy w/him in the return game they would POSSIBLY give him a look elsewhere. Maybe this is that somewhere. I don't think it's anything you'll see this year, but maybe they have him out there practicing, recieving instruction from the DB coach, and let him have it in TC and PS next year. Even if it's just as a reserve or nickle guy, it allows him something else other then KR/PR which probably makes him feel safer.
With the way our Defense has been injured it maybe our only option.
I have a feeling we will see him at least one play on defense. Likely more..... Ugh
You'll never hear Conte say this:
Devin Hester: I can cover anybody
Isn't DH a FA after this season? Are we assuming he will be back? Just asking...
If he can become what you're saying (a legit reserve/nickel CB), that would help justify paying him. I forgot what he's earning this year but IIRC he's pretty pricey for a pure return man.
Hester likely will not be back next year
If due to injuries the Bears have to play Hester at DB they really are in trouble. That experiment was already tried when he was a rookie and he failed at that worse than he did at WR. He's not big enough or enough of a hitter to use at Safety so he'd need to play CB or possibly NB and when the other guys start picking on him he'll get chewed up and spit out quick. Pray really hard this doesn't happen.
Well, with all their defensive injuries, especially in the secondary, they are in trouble.
I can understand the reasoning, they need someone who can match speed and at least deflect the ball.
That being said, it would be a mistake
Great...we are paper thin all across the defense.
