    4 years, 22 mill, 11 mill guaranteed. Thats a nice deal for the Colts considering Jackson is the best linebacker on the market.

    Well...considering we need a MLB, the price should concern us. As an aside, I would have liked to see us at least meet with Jackson.

    How could they sign him before free agency began. He played last yr and was recently released. Since he was not a Colt thought they had to wait for FA

    If he was already released by his team (assume so), then he became a FA right then. The Tuesday deadline (start date of the new league year) applies to players still technically under contract through Monday.

    No problem, I believe that's how it works. Guys like Melton and Tillman are technically still under contract with the Bears until the Tuesday deadline when the new league year begins and their existing contracts expire. Players who have been "pre -released" so to speak (usually for cap reasons) are already FAs since they're not under contract with ANY team.
