Well I said I would be after the 1st round. There just wasn't much sense in beating the bushes to come up with the same conclusions three weeks ago. Once Emery said he had six guys he'd be happy with we could have named at least 5 of the 6 and we got one of them.

I still believe Donald was the guy he wanted and would have taken had the Rams not scooped his up at #13. To me that was the biggest shocker in round one. Nobody saw that coming. Every mock I saw had them taking a DB. Gilbert if he fell or one of the Safeties. In the final analysis Donald was just too much better to ignore. Like I was saying you never pass up a great inside pass rusher if he's there. The Rams didn't NEED him as much as we did but he was the BPA on defense at #13.

From the look on Uncle Phil's face when he was on the phone with Fuller he was disappointed and in a state of shock too. Donald got by TB, Minny, and NY (the three everyone thought might grab him) and by then Phil must have figured he had his man. No one had St. Louis taking him but they must have taken some calls about trading that pick. I'm not unhappy with Fuller and we did get Sutton who in my mind is a player very much like Donald. Not impressed with Ferguson though.

Yeah Ferguson came as a surprise to me as well. I guess you look back at the end of the season though and Ferguson was the 4th ranked DT, before the so called experts started nit picking everything.

I really like the pick. Not the fastest guy but breaks alot of tackles, good receiver & most important, a good pass blocker. Can make you miss or run over you & has great feet. Can really plant & cut. Perfect backup to Forte IMHO.

Zona is gonna be happy with that Ka'Deem Carey pick. I guess I'll reserve judgement. With as many RBs as there were left on the board I would not have taken a RB here and IMHO James White has similar size, is faster, and less of a risk. I think they could have had White in the 6th or as an UDFA.

Soul, I think the Bears realized that if Forte goes down for any extended length of time this offense would struggle. Carey is a workhorse that can run, catch & block. He has a similar skill set to Forte.
Carey had nearly 4,000 yards rushing & over 40 TDs in the last two years. Unbelievable production when you think about it.

Looks like we would have had to grab White in this round if we wanted him. I would have probably preferred James White over Carey as of right now.. but with his production I'll reserve my judgement. Hope it works out for us.

Brock Vereen FS, another name I've heard. You guys are on it apparently.
