Sorry that I wasn't a member back when I first read this superb article from Bill Barnwell over at Grantland. I am posting it now for anyone who may have missed it. It seems like Barnwell is a pretty big fan of Emery's. I really have faith that we FINALLY have a GM who is on the cutting edge of talent evaluation/roster construction. In Emery We Trust.

"I guess if you're saying an enormous amount of leverage [for Cutler], that means we've had a great season … that's a problem I look forward to."

Oops we won it all here's your money Jay.
    Great read good find.
Just looking at your name I bet Marc T would love to have a Brad Muster.

Wow that was an incredibly well written well thought out article....a real legit article w/sources behind it. I'm going to have to start visiting that site more often, thanks.

This is everything I like about Emery, and the one thing that scares the hell out of me. He is a risk taker, and he is very confident...which is awesome when you hit b/c you hit big....but big whiff and you really get F'd in the A. Right now I'd say Emery is off to a hot start I hope he continues to, and hope he has more drafts like this year compared to last. Next years draft is going to say a great deal about what he can offer the team. But I like Emery, he's a great communicator and I bet that flows through HH also.

That is a great article. Thanks for posting it. I'm really liking this GM more every month. He won't be perfect, but I can already see that we have something special in this guy. He's also a nice complement to Trestman.

Emery is the man, I like how he's running things now....organized, reasonable and to the point and building the team the right way (thru the draft and developing players properly).

Correct me if i'm wrong, is this the first draft class where all players made the team ? (don't remember this being done in awhile)

The immediate future is never certain for a thousand reasons but I see the arrow as pointing UP with Emery at the helm.

His challenge 18 months ago (and lots of folks here were naysayers on him accomplishing this) was to build a real offense, pretty much from the ground up, while somehow simultaneously maintaining and rejuvenating a great but aging defense. It's only been two offseasons, but we can see the fruits starting to ripen. I won't go through all the details (you all know them) but he's put together a respectable offense--players and coaches--on paper while starting to blend some youth into a still potent defense.

Laugh at his goofy ears and dorky glasses, but the man has steered the ship away from the rocks and it seems to be gaining steam in the right direction.

Well written article and thank for posting it. Although I believe he's stumbled through a few things I also believe he has the ability to build through the draft and young 2nd tier FAs. The one thing he seems to have going for him as that he does recognize both talent and potential and he knows which is which.
