LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- As Chicago Bears general manager Phil Emery finished up a 17-minute press conference Thursday night at Halas Hall, the muted TV to his right showed the Green Bay Packers taking Alabama safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix with the 21st pick in the draft. Emery passed on Clinton-Dix, a mock-draft favorite, when he took Virginia Tech cornerback Kyle Fuller with the 14th pick in the first round of Thursday’s made-for-TV draft.

According to this article, Fuller was the top rated player on the Bears board. Not too sure what to say about that. Hopefully they mean the top player they thought they could get and not the very best player in the draft.

Probably means the top player that fits in what they intend to do this season with the defense. Just because another player is rated higher at another position, doesnt mean he makes a good fit for our defense.

Think it means top player LEFT on their board.

BINGO! That's what people don't understand. Just because someone is rated higher doesn't mean they should take him. If they don't fit the scheme pass

I listened to that press conference, they played it on Les Grobstein's radio show. When I heard Emery say that, I took it to mean Fuller was their top rated cornerback.

ok. I'll buy that. That makes sense. I can certainly believe that he might have been.

Christ I would hope he thought he was the best pick for the team...if he wasn't confident in that then I'd question why he has a job today.
