memorializing Buddy Ryan by placing a "BR 46" patch on our jerseys when Buddy passes on? I am going to send an email to Halas Hall to inquire as to the feasibility of this proposal. Would you guys be willing to throw your support behind it? Signing an electronic petition perhaps?

Thanks Ojibway Bob. I appreciate it! Hopefully some more guys weigh in! Sometimes it seems like I am the only guy around here who even remembers Buddy Ryan.

not sure about the 46, but I would be fine with immortalizing him with a patch

I'd be fine with them wearing a patch the year he passes, but they absolutely shouldn't do a permanent alteration to the uniforms for him.

Of course he should be remembered. Weather it be a patch or perhaps just place his initials by the GSH.

I'd support the idea but given the organizations usual apathy about the Super Bowl Bears I'm not sure how much support, if any, you'll get around Halas Hall. Had Buddy remained with the Bears following that '86 SB win and the Bears had won one or two more championships with him as DC you might have a stronger argument. Now that George McCaskey is CEO the idea may get more support though.

To me the '85 Bears were the most dominant defensive team of all time. As such honoring the architect and coach of that defense seems only right and fair to me but that decision isn't up to me. That said I'd sign an electronic petition supporting the idea. Buddy is as deserving of recognition as was Mike Ditka and the players themselves. Put it together and I'll support it.

I only regret that we didn't shut the Pats out in the Super Bowl as well. Think about it. Two playoff games plus a Super Bowl without allowing your opponents a single point!!! That would have been a record for the ages that may never have been broken.

I wished for that as well. I also wondered how much more dominant they would be if both holdout starters Bell and Harris had played.

I really don't care I think he's more of character coach like DITKA than a real coach like a Bill Walsh. BUT that '85 D my grandmother could have coached that group. "85D go tear the head off the guy with the football" game plan done. I also believe I could have been the greatest NBA coach if I had MJ to coach for boat load of years as well. "Give ball to MJ" game plan done.

Nobody thought Doug Collins was a good coach. He couldn't win a title with Jordan, and after getting fired, it took several years of him being a "hindsight superstar" TV analyst for him to get a second job. And it's certainly easier to win with top talent, but we've seen a bunch of examples in every sport of teams which were loaded with talent and completely bombed. Most recently, the 2011 Eagles were called a "dream team" before losing 8 of their first 12 games and missing the playoffs.

I'd be fine with a helmet sticker, or perhaps a patch...but no alterations to the uniform. Papa Bear is the only one who should have their initials permanently on the jersey!

He was going to win until Jordan preferred Phil to be the coach.

I would be okay with a helmet sticker as well, but it should be worn all seasonlong, just not the week Buddy passed on. Agreed?

With Marshall and Duerson stepping up they never even needed them. If I recall Harris came back the following year but I don't think Bell did.
