Hey ... all of us are just like us ...CHICAGO BEARS FAN S... and SICK of 8-8.

This DEFENSE in FA and DRAFT and UDFA's has got to show motor skills.

Are they on board in Halas Hall? Thats the question ... an answer ...

is to be determined ... we are done with the answer to be determined.

Give us our CHICAGO BEARS back.

We can deal with the NFC NORTH ...

give us a team that can go on the road and BEAT Frisco & Seattle in the Playoffs.

Any self respecting BEARS FAN would only ask that much.

Give us a TEAM to be PROUD of.

wtsf is wrong w/you? You want a team that has been perpetually shit in the draft over a decade to go in and beat the 2 best teams in the NFCN on the road after 1 full year of drafting under the new regime?

I was proud the team finished 8-8 last year considering they were missing all their starting quality/leaders on Def. How the hell they managed that is nothing short of a miracle considering that their starting qb was also missing a good portion of the year.

Hell yeah I want a team that can beat those two teams! Those bastards started this by showing how good they could get

that fast. We have to do the same! Thats why this draft has got to hit the field running. Otherwise we get passed by.

We proved we can get a fifth rated offense in one year. I expect the same from the defense.

    My prediction:

Offense: Top 5 in the NFL.

Defense: Top 15 in the NFL ... hopefully on the upper end of the fifteen.

We win the NFL North and from there....it depends on chemistry, injuries and luck.

Top15? No ... and heres why ...everything in Emerys Armor dictated defense in the first four rounds.

Free agency ... UDFA's also. The man is on a hunt to win a SUPERBOWL !

He got us an offense ... if he gets us a like minded defense then we are players.

A fifth ranked defense ? That should be the goal.

2012 CHICAGO BEARS ... fifth against the run.

    Lets get back to normal.

I agree about the goal being a top 5 D. Hell, you should shoot for top 3. You rarely overshoot, so you always have to aim high.

    BIH ,

The odds of getting to a SUPRBOWL with a fifth ranked offense and a fifth ranked defense are pretty good.

What gets me is some people are counting this out like its a rebuilding season ... no its not.

This upcoming season is when we make our statement.

    8-8 ... 11-5 ... playoff losers ... playoff winners ...

SUPERBOWL losers ... SUPERBOWL winners ...

GODDAMMIT at least we tried !!

And whose to say we didnt win or lose ?

    We havent been there yet.

Any good BEARRSSE team would be EXPECTED to be there.

Well, it sort of is rebuilding. Trestman is tearing down the bad parts of the team, while replacing them with improvements.

This assumption is based of what he did last year with the offense.

Most think a team that is over 8-8 record, they only have to tweak a roster. Well, we need more than that. I think we are rebuilding but in a mild form.

Remember, Lovie rebuilding versus Trestman rebuilding. We've seen more moves in the past two years than probably the Lovie "era" combined.. lol

RESULTS? Oh now you want results. That'll cost you extra. :rofl2:

I'd call this whole process we're going through "learning how to rebuild on the fly". The best of the best have learned how so now it's our turn. NE, GB, Baltimore, and now SF and Seattle are coming up the pike too. For the first time in this century we're actually behaving like a modern NFL football team.

We've have good ownership finally, good upper level management, a sharp personnel wise GM, and good coaches on both sides of the ball for a change. We took a small step backwards last year on the field but off the field the restocking continues and we have the strongest collection of talent here I've seen in years.

For the top teams there's never a time when the rebuilding effort is over. It's an ongoing process and Emery talks about that constantly. If there's a player or players out there who are an upgrade over guys we have then he's interested in getting them. There's a lot of new faces around that locker room now and even more coming through the door.

It's never over jackie but you collect the results of those labors as you go. No one ever said it had to be completed before we win a championship.

First we rebuild Offense and they we rebuild the Defense, now we have to see what we need to add next year to put us over the top. Maybe we only need to fine tune, and will be a one of the best if not the best in the NFL this year.

Agreed 1000%. Offense was first, then defense. Next year we can START the improvement/depth work. I like the way Emery is going about improving this team. He's done more in less time than I thought was possible. I figured it would be 5 years before we saw real results. Here it is 2 years and we may start getting some of those results this year.

Ya I think that's the key. Emery has damn near worked a miracle on O and D over the last 2 years.
But even he won't know what the team needs until next year, hell possibly the year after that depending on how some of these youngters progress. If Bostic/Shea/Greene/Jones all stick and progress well enough to be relied on then you have your LB's tied up for another few years; but what if 2 of those 3 don't pan out? Then you got real problelms next year. S is still a work in progress and might well be a problem going into the next draft, and you still need a young CB to be able to eventually take over Jennings role as #2.

The O side seems a bit more stable, a good amount of young talent behind solid vets at all levels(except TE).

Normal? That was actually more the exception than the rule under Lovie. We only had a top 10 defense 4 times. Finished in the high 20's a bunch of time too.

Thank you Butkus, people act like Lovie always had this amazing top 5 D, it just wasn't the case.

Yeah, I think people just really remember the years we had great defenses and forget about the years where 28th in yards given up, or 30th in points given up, or 24th or 25th in rushing yards under Lovie.

and again that was when just about all the resources went to the D and the O was asked NOT to screw it up and were the red headed step child of the team, even behind ST's.

I'd love to be 1st in both categories. That should be the goal.

But... if we had the 15th best defense last year we would have won the division. It would have been enough to get us into the dance and we are starting from dead last. We had an atrocious defense last year, many aging players, injurides and a complete reshuffling of the deck this year. How that all shakes out is a very big question mark at this point.
