Wow... I agree with the entire list.
not sure about Garza and Rosario, Would like to draft one of the positions, depends on how much they want for a yr and the draft.
Not sure on the Garza over Boggs thing, definately a no on Rosario, I don't see how that was fruitful at all. You cannot sign both Melton and Ratliff to much money for those two, and they play the same position. If you can get one and Collins back, that's a much better option. McMannis and Martin ARE in the same boat, why sign either? As bad as the DB's were this year, if they couldn't find a spot on the field, time to look for st'rs/backups elsewhere.
I agree w/Hester, but he was still one of the best returners, and he didn't even begin to hurt your WR depth chart, so if you can get him back on a 1-2 year small deal, why not? he's not going to break the record, the rules and his age are just to much against him, but teams still fear kicking to him and it tends to lead to good field position more often then not.
Josh McCown – QB – Re-sign: Yes
Agree - He's the perfect back-up for the Bears at this point and it's the perfect situation for him as well.
Roberto Garza – C – Re-sign: Yes
Agree - Draft his replacement this year and send him on his way.
Taylor Boggs - C – Re-sign: No
Agree - He's not the future.
Eben Britton – T – Re-sign: Yes
Agree - He has a lot of value.
Jonathan Scott – T – Re-sign: No
Agree - He's old.
Dante Rosario – TE – Re-sign: Yes
Disagree - He didn't impress me.
Henry Melton – DT – Re-sign: Yes
Disagree - I'd rather sign Collins on the cheap and find a young stud in the draft.
Landon Cohen – DT – Re-sign: No
Nate Collins – DT – Re-sign: No
Disagree - I'd keep Collins on the cheap over Melton.
Jeremiah Ratliff – DT – Re-sign: Yes
Agree - He proved he's worth keeping around. Would provide good veteran leadership & experience for the young d-lineman they bring in.
Corey Wootton – DE – Re-sign: Yes
Cheta Ozougwu – DE – Re-sign: No
James Anderson – OLB – Re-sign: No
On the fence, but probably agree. The injury bug to other's didn't help his cause. I think he performed well enough to earn a roster spot, but since Emery wants to go younger and they seem to have a plethera of young OLB's, I think cutting Andersen would be the right move.
D.J. Williams – MLB – Re-sign: Yes
Agree - I liked what I saw when he was on the field. I would just hope he could stay healthy in 2014.
Blake Costanzo – MLB – Re-sign: No
Charles Tillman – CB – Re-sign: No
Disagree - If he'll come back, I'd give him a 1 or 2 year deal that's incentive-laden.
Zackary Bowman – CB – Re-sign: Yes
Agree - He earned a roster spot.
Kelvin Hayden – CB – Re-sign: No
Derrick Martin – CB – Re-sign: No
Sherrick McManis – CB – Re-sign: Yes
Major Wright – SS – Re-sign: No
Craig Steltz – SS – Re-sign: No
Disagree - He does enough on special teams to earn a roster spot. And I think he does a respectable job as a back-up safety.
Anthony Walters - SS – Re-sign: No
Devin Hester – KR – Re-sign: No
I could go either way.
Patrick Mannelly – LS – Re-sign: Yes
I know he's not a FA, but I'd send Weems packing. He's a punk that's always trying to start crap on the field. He doesn't do anything as a WR. Cut him.
Melton is a NO.
Too much money and Adrian Peterson has made people forget that an ACL is a full year recovery, and in some cases longer.
He has the look and feel of a one year wonder and I'm not very high on his potential.
The only way I want him back is if it is slightly more than vet minimum, with a incentive heavy deal.
With that in mind it may not bode well for Collins even though I'd like him back. IIRC though Collins rehab is doing better than Melton's (minus the bar fights) at this point.
So, why exactly is Mark Sanchez being brought up as the reason McCown should not go into free agency? This ain't about McCown either. Sanchez should get used to being a journeyman backup QB, because he is too brittle emotionally to handle starting in the NFL.
I'd like to see the Bears go after one of the available free agents at Center. There are some interesting guys out there who might come at decent deals.
