We are 4 games into the season and I have not seen a thread on the O-line.

I really thought we would be a rock star on offense if we could get a decent O-line together.

Fixed? I don't think anything is ever fixed in the NFL, there is always room for improvement. But I understand what you're asking, and I would say yes. Emery has fixed our O-line. But they need more experience and development. and depth. and a center for next year, although Garza is much better than expected.

6 sacks in 4 games and 148 attempts? Ya I'd say they are doing alright. I saw that the team is using a lot of 2 TE sets, which is preventing a lot of 3 wr sets, so it appears that the OL might not be as great as it looks, but it's still a huge improvement.

Is the Offense fixed? Not yet. The scoreboard will tell you the O is scoring in the 30's and 40's, but a lot of that is still due to the D creating turn overs and the TD's.

They sure worked wonders with the OL. Next year the DL needs the facelift.

Oline is almost there. A center next year and we're good for a few years. Long will eventually be a left tackle and we will be golden at the tackle position. The rest of the O is in a real learning curve. It will take Cutler a season to comprehend it in its entirety. We'll see flashes of brilliance and disasters. My only concern is can he get over the beating of the last few years and play fearless and with confidence.

As he gains confidence in his offensive line, that's going to help. I was thinking that when he reviews film of the Detroit game, he's going to see a lot of positives regarding the OL. For such a new/young OL, they did pretty darned well. Jay should get more confidence as this season moves forward & he's being kept about as upright as any NFL quarterback could hope for (everyone gets hit/sacked a bit.....even QB's with the best OL's).

I don't care how wonderful Garza is playing this season he must be replaced next year. Also need depth. The last few years should serve as a forever example of what not to do. ALWAYS bring in some O line talent from somewhere.

A whole lot of respect hasn't been shown for how good Sug & Fairley are.

In years past, we would have about 40 threads after 4 games (Ihonestly do not think that is much of a strech, 10 per game).
I'm loving the silence! The line has come a LONG (pun intended) way from just last year.

I see people are thinking we are drafting a center. I disagree. They are going to try Boggs at the role. He's on the active 53 for a reason. No way we draft a center now. Kromer has managed to just manufacture a center from veteran league floaters in the past. no reason he doesn't try that again.

And if things don't work out with Boggs, bam, Garza is back again for another spin. Awww, yeah.

Prepare for a defensive draft. We need CB and DT depth desperately.

It's much better now (not perfect of course), but the key is to never rest your laurels with the group. I would like it if we drafted one OL somewhere in the 3-5th round every draft and keep the development pipeline moving. That may seem like a lot but when you consider that 5/22 regular starters are on the o-line it's not much at all. This is how we can prevent having a dearth of talent on the o-line down the road... then maybe draft the occasional 1st rounder or drop money on a free agent, if necessary, to fill in a void.

It's easy to say best O-line in 10 years based on stats. But perfection is always good too.

The cool thing is that the OL now has the personnel that will only get better and better with the gel-thing kicking in. The problem in the past was that you have to have a base-level of talent before they can gel into something great. Under Angelo/Lovie/Tice the team tried to gel crap. And all you get with that is something that stinks. Crap is crap. It never gels.

Now we have talent. The gel thing can now happen.

Maybe the Bears are going to become a grownup NFL team and build their team around the offense instead of the defense. Defense is a lot of fun to watch but offense is how you become a dynasty.

I think we are getting there but we need some more depth. I believe that we will draft a late round G or T next year to develop as a backup.

In a few years I think the line will look like Bushrod-Slauson-Boggs-Long-Mills.

If you erase the Lions game the OL is on an upward trend.
If you include the Lions game and think that is the wave of the future,
the OL is on a downward trend.
    BUT WE KNOW DIFFERENT !

I would expect a D-heavy draft/FA this coming spring too. On the O side, we still should draft an OL mid-late to keep the pipeline stocked (something Angelo failed miserably at doing) and we could really use a receiving TE prospect behind Bennett.
