There is nothing not to like about this kid. He is on the fast track to becoming one of the beloved, great, all-time fan-favorite players.

As for the family, Kyle might have the ability to help our defense too. Not sure what Chris' contract status is but, Kyle may be able to recruit him and help us improve the defensive line.

Benji I think far more people were criticizing WHERE has was selected than him being selected at all. Emery saw him as the third best OG prospect in the draft and those of us, and the rest of the draft gurus, who'd never scouted Long or interviewed him didn't have the same perspective. He's a gamble whose paid off.

I like both him and Mills and what they've done to upgrade that side of the line this year. In some ways Mills has been an even bigger surprise than Long. For a rookie the kid pass blocks very well. Coming from the family he did I had no doubts about Long being a good player but few saw him and Mills doing as much as they have this early in their careers. Phil hit pay dirt with both.

People said he reached for him. Did he? Still in question, but there has been news that says he would have gone fairly soon after Bears grabbed him.

I believe it was being called a "reach",wasn't it?

Anyway, I really like the guy. He plays hard, he's aggressive, and he doesn't back down from anybody. I am glad he wasn't ejected today.

Trust me I like Long a LOT but what I was annoyed about was WHERE we took him. I thought he should have gone in the second round to be honest.

Regarding Mills we just got lucky. I think the plan was to have Mills back-up for a year while Webb handled the RT position but considering how bad Webb was it was better to put Mills in early and he hasn't dissapointed.

True. But that was the first I remember seeing. I will give him a pass on it. Emotion running high with the family game. One time is nothing to get upset over.

If he does it again, then we have to keep an eye on him. Do not want him being an offensive lineman version of Suh

Do you think he would have lasted to the late 2nd round? I am not so sure he would have

    Agreed.

At the time Yes. Today? No. I think Green Bay would have taken him at 26.

I'm an Oregon fan and watched him in college and I was one of the ones who thought we reached for him. clearly has the physical tools but I thought he was raw and immature (he was in college). It seems the guy has really grown up (as you'd expect coming from that bloodline, he must have some good people in his ear)

I loved hispotential but thought we reached. Im happy to be proven wrong and he's now one of my favourite players too! Keep it going Kyle! :)

I'll tell ya what, I don't want him doing that in every game, but I want my O-Line to have that kind of attitude. I'll take a penalty like that on occasion and he showed a little bit of that last week also. THAT is a real NFL O-Lineman and he has taken the place of Kruetz as our enforcer. You can call me a hunny bun or an old schooler, whatever you like, but this is still football and you still need that guy when a fire needs to be lit.

Hell no. I do not want him kicking people again. I do not want dirty players like that on my team.
