    Draft day April ??, 2014.

We're going to say the Bears are picking between 28-32. Coming from this season what position is a MUST HAVE FILLER NOW! What position would you draft after looking on these past 3 games. Go!

It really depends on who stays and who doesn't but I'm thinking a new CB. Tillman isn't getting younger and sadly he is starting to become more of an injurie prone. :(
But I would like the Bears to draft a:
    CB
    C
    WR

Draft best available defensive player. Our weakest positions right now are DE and safety.

Defense needs attention almost across the board. We might even see a safety get drafted.

I'd like to see us draft a high-quality QB that Trestman can develop. At the very least, it would be good to have a rock solid backup to Jay. I'm not saying this has to be our top pick. But it should be a guy who has a high ceiling with Trestman working with him. This is supposed to be a loaded draft at QB. So maybe a 2nd round pick, or later, could be "The Guy" for Marc to develop.

Other than that, I'd say DL and CB are priorities. Maybe the best player available in round-1 at either position, you draft.

This is all extremely preliminary of course being only 3 games into the season. But, extrapolating based on what we have seen so far, I'll say this:

    A) Jay Cutler is the Bears starting QB for the foreseeable future. The Trestman-Cutler experiment is a success. Jay will get a multi-year contract extension. Therefore, there is no need to draft an "immediate starter" QB. Therefore, drafting a "project" QB is a lower priority that can wait until the 3rd round at least.

    B) Coming off a concussion and ACL, Melton and his big money deal are gone. Downside is that we need to draft a DT high (1st round?) for sure in '14. Upside is one less big contract so other vets can be retained more easily. The question on whether or not Melton was worth it is over--Phil made the right call in not handing him a deal last offseason.

    C) Even if we retain both Peanut and Jennings (and it would be stupid not to keep at least one), we need to draft a CB in the 2nd round.

    D) We also need to draft and develop a decent pass catching backup TE (mid-round pick).

DT, DE as of right now.

Its WAY too early to make any predictions outside of that, since so many contracts are going to be up in the air during the offseason. OUr board is going to change rapidly before the draft.

I agree. I don't believe we need to draft the QB first. Just that I'd like to see us finally get a guy who's worth developing behind Jay. This draft is supposed to be loaded at QB, so this would be a good year to do that.

I was thinking about the TE position too. You make a good point there. It would be nice to get someone else on the roster who can catch a football playing TE. Right now if anything happens to Bennett at TE, we're screwed.
