Now we have a 242 lb linebacker. This could end up being a disaster but I'll be rooting for ole' Seamus. He's put the work in (I was the one wondering if he's sitting on his farm chasing chickens), apparently, he's been working hard. Good for him. Can't wait to see what happens.....

Hoping Shea was not a bad pick. I looked back at the draft stuff a while back and he was projected as a OLB all the way. Hopefully going to his natural position will justify his 1st rd status. Good to see he appears to realize this is his chance to either shine or go down as a bust. I am rooting for the sun to shine.

Now he looks like a pro football player instead of a HS player/farm kid. If he was a fast as he was looking like the before imagine what he could be like as a "seek and destroy" LB and edge rusher.

That was a nice find L. There's quite a difference in the before and after. I need to look this guy Scott up. LOL

looks like he lost too much weight. Think I can see the dudes ribs.

Should have toned and built instead of losing weight I think.

Just looks to me like he made him lose his baby fat and turned him into a "lean mean fightin' machine".

If he's at 242lbs he about as perfect for a SLB/Edge Rusher as you could get and it's gonna be a lot easier to add 5 lbs more of solid muscle to that now that his body fat is as low as it is. That old body was like a HS player not an NFL pro. No wonder he got tossed around.

I feel bad for this kid. The Bears have utterly mismanaged his career thus far by forcing him to play a position he never should have been drafted for. If he had been picked by a 3-4 team to play OLB, he'd probably be a pretty solid player by now with two seasons experience under his belt. I hope he can make up for lost time and be productive in his new (proper) role. I'm sure he knows that his future depends a lot upon him showing some worth this year.

I'm struck by how SMALL he looks in those photos even before he shed the baby fat. Not that he's a small guy, just he looks way too small to be a DE. What a cluster-f**k that whole experiment was.

yeah.. for a football player, he almost looks fragile. And he is the one that is supposed to be doing the hitting!

It's a good thing players aren't picked by appearance alone because if that was the case the HoF would be half empty.

The guy is in better shape than me and plays at the NFL level. So it's hard to criticize too much... But if I saw Shea walking on the beach, I wouldn't immediately think football player. I expect more muscle mass even with body fat >15%. Even his neck isn't wide/thick like you would expect a DE in the NFL.

He is really showing commitment to the change. I am excited to see how this season comes together for him

I agree they screwed this up big time. As far as his commitment he does not have much choice, he has proven he can not play DE well at NFL level. Hopefully he is a beast or at a minimum shows enough promise to get another shot after this year. He deserves it after being played out of position,.

Prophetic huh? You really have to wonder what made them think they could ever make a LDE out of him. I think they kid can be a good LB but how good no one knows yet. Hopefully enough to justify the pick.

As for his build let's remember this kid is a cobra not a python. He needs to be very quick and wiry strong, not bulky strong. That was Emery biggest mistake. He thought they could get him up to 265-270 and he simply doesn't have the frame for that. It's easy to see that in those pics.

Looking at the pic, I can see now why he could only manage 19 reps on bench press at the combine. I hope this works, but I have my doubts. Speed means nothing if they are running straight at him like last year.

Singletary wasn't fast and neither were Morrissey , Rivera or Hillenmeyer ( to name a few ) . There are others on different teams also . I think he'll be just fast enough and he has good instincts so let's see what happens.
