Facing a stellar OL, with a very good quick-release QB, with one of the better WR-TE combos in the NFL, with one of its own stars (Melton) barely back from a serious injury and playing on little prep/conditioning time.

Not true. He beat us singlehandedly with a killer game late last year but generally we have contained him quite well.

True so all the more reason we take him out of the game. If we can contain him well enough early and get up by a couple of scores by halftime we begin to force them to throw the ball more. If Ponder has to go to the air IMHO he won't get the job done. He's not all that good to begin with and without AP to handoff to he's even worse.

As successful as Cincy was through the air last Sunday they still learned that throwing into our secondary is a dangerous pursuit. I'd be shocked if we went a single game this year without at least one big turnover from that crew.

Last year he gashed us, especially in the 2nd game. He killed a lot of teams last year. We also had a gimpy MLB all last year. The previous 3 seasons he averaged 67 yards per game against the Bears.

Dont even give the time for Ponder to hand off to Peterson.

Motor in the backfield and call it home ... Ponder should either be running for his life or throwing it out of bounds.

    THATS CHICAGO BEARS FOOTBALL !

DARE ... DARE to step up and make Adrian Peterson a non factor.

I'm not sure we will be able to get a monster pass rush and bottle AP at the same time.

I'm really thinking that our best option is to be conservative with the pass rush and play to stop AP. Ponder does not seem to have the ability to hit any downfield targets, so we keep everything in front of us and make sure tackles.

The key to this week is tackling. Trying to make a big hit on AP will likely result in a complete wiff.

I dont see this as one dimension ...Ponder got thru to Jerome Simpson for 140 yds.

Its not like its all about Peterson ... Kyle Rudolph ... we better respect that.

Coming into this game taking anything for granted is what has screwed us in the past.

"we also seem to have a QB that cant get off of throwing to one WR."

Seems to me he hit plenty of targets last week? Is a true number one WR such a rarity in Chicago that when we have one it confuses people? I am ready for 300 yard plus games though.

I believe in his rookie year, AP toasted our D for a record at Soldier Field. Remember? Man, he looked unstoppable. Do you hear that Benson? Why could you not ever do it when you were here?

AP has great stats against the Bears. Over his career he has averaged 108 yards per game against the Bears, 5 YPC. He has also scored 14 rushing TDs against the Bears in those 10 games
