    Week 1 Preview: Thursday Edition

Valhalla Vagrants Faces Angry Pollocks to Start Season

    • Updated: Thursday September 04, 2014 10:23:03 AM EDT
Valhalla Vagrants kicks off their fantasy season tonight with a big matchup, taking on Angry Pollocks. According to recent projections, the outcome isn't etched in stone, with Valhalla Vagrants favored to win by 4.12 points.
Valhalla Vagrants will suit up the Seahawks Defense (7.00 projected points), Aaron Rodgers (16.26 projected points), and Steven Hauschka (12.00 projected points) in tonight's game, while Angry Pollocks has Randall Cobb (6.10 projected points). Two other league matchups get going tonight.
Valhalla Vagrants has a pronounced advantage at the WR position, where Brandon Marshall and Mike Wallace are projected to outscore Pierre Garcon and Randall Cobb, 21.80 - 12.70. For Angry Pollocks to be competitive, they'll need to capitalize at the QB position, where Peyton Manning is expected to score more than Aaron Rodgers, 25.44 - 16.26. Valhalla Vagrants has four players (including Aaron Rodgers and Brandon Marshall) facing a top-10-ranked defense this week. Angry Pollocks has three starters (Randall Cobb, Reggie Bush, and Le'Veon Bell) going up against a top-10 defense and one (Peyton Manning) against a defense ranked in the bottom 10.
Valhalla Vagrants has made two lineup changes since Tuesday, starting Joique Bell (3.70 projected points) and Rodgers (16.26 projected points) while benching Philip Rivers (12.82 projected points) and Fred Jackson (3.10 projected points). They could be interested in picking up Steve Johnson (7.50 projected points) to start over Mike Wallace (5.90 projected points) and adding the Redskins Defense (9.00 projected points) to start in place of the Seahawks D (7.00 projected points).
Angry Pollocks has not made any changes to their lineup. They might consider picking up Travis Kelce (6.10 projected points) to start over Jordan Reed (4.50 projected points) and substituting in the Ravens Defense (8.00 projected points) for the Patriots Defense (5.00 projected points).

    WEEK 1 PREVIEW: FRIDAY EDITION

It's all Just a Joke and GrizzlyBear Meet to Start Season

    • Updated: Friday September 05, 2014 4:59:04 PM CDT
It's all Just a Joke goes up against GrizzlyBear to open their season. This is still anybody's game, with It's all Just a Joke favored to win by just 0.06 points, the smallest margin in the league.
It's all Just a Joke has the advantage at the WR position, where Michael Crabtree and A.J. Green are projected to outscore Torrey Smith and Alshon Jeffery, 32.80 - 20.90. For GrizzlyBear to be competitive, they'll need to capitalize at the QB position, where Drew Brees is expected to score more than Andy Dalton, 27.20 - 14.16. It's all Just a Joke has two players (Andy Dalton and A.J. Green) facing a top-10 defense while two more (Michael Crabtree and Julius Thomas) face a bottom-10-ranked defense. GrizzlyBear has one starter (Alshon Jeffery) going up against a top-10 defense and one (Frank Gore) against a defense ranked in the bottom 10.
It's all Just a Joke made one pickup since Thursday, adding the Eagles Defense (6.00 projected points) while dropping Ben Roethlisberger (14.06 projected points). They've also placed the Bills Defense (8.00 projected points) on the bench for the matchup. They might be interested in picking up the Redskins Defense (9.00 projected points) to start over the Eagles D (6.00 projected points) and adding Ryan Succop (20.00 projected points) to start in place of Matt Bryant (12.00 projected points).
Meanwhile, GrizzlyBear has made one change to their lineup, starting Torrey Smith (6.70 projected points) while placing DeSean Jackson (11.80 projected points) on the bench. They might also want to think about picking up the Redskins D (9.00 projected points) to start over the Steelers Defense (5.00 projected points).
