Lemme guess, hereafter it's gonna be flag football with a kegger set up in each end zone to encourage scoring. :D

Up the players to 65-70 and I think you got it right MP.

Its the probowl, shit...anything would be more entertaining then the current format. What they should do is have Jerry Rice and Deion pick out who they want on their team, and play a winner-take-all Madden video game on Jerry Jones lil TV screen in Dallas stadium.

Hell I'd be happy if they scrapped it, and had the skills competition happen the day before the SB, I'd watch that.

However many you would need on the roster to accommodate 18 RS games then.
You could preserve individual records and player longevity by requiring that no player can be gameday active for more that 16 RS games (+ having 2 byes).
It would introduce a lot of new strategy as each GM would have to really build depth and each HC would have to plan how/when he was going to rest his star players.
You'd have to win NFLPA approval by sweetening the pot with a fair revenue split from the extra 2 RS games.
The season would extend into mid-late Feb which is a dead time in American sports anyway. The NFL playoffs/SB would dominate the market's attention. And each franchise would replace one crappy, low revenue PS home game with a meaningful, higher-revenue RS home game.

We all know that PS games and the Pro Bowl are stupid contests that fall far behind the usual standard of NFL marketability. The former are necessary enough to have 2 for tryout purposes. The Pro Bowl is utterly a farce.

I get the 16 game thing, but can you imagine how low the attendance would be for the NE vs Bronco's game when Brady and Manning aren't starting and it's their backups? I like the idea, but I don't see them ever doing it b/c that's two games where the star on the field aren't there.

Or even if just one of the two were benched...look at what happened when Spurs played the Lakers i think it was, they got sued (lol) for sitting Duncan and Parker. Plus, i would think that it would cause some morale problems on the team, the NFL is not like the other leagues, injuries are more serious, and the team relies heavily on their QB, so that would kill some of the motivation going into those games when you know your QB isnt going to be playing that week. (slightly different then when a QB is out from injury, that is not a choice)

    A) a game between 2 key rivals would be a very unlikely time any HC would choose to rest his star QB.
    B) when key players have to miss games due to injury, it's not like fans stay away in droves. The Packers would still fill Lambeau if Rodgers had to sit out a home game with an ankle sprain.
    C) I don't see how you can expand the schedule anymore without limiting injury exposure like this. The NFLPA is skeptical to begin with. They're never going to agree otherwise.
