I just like the extra crispy but there's plenty of original recipe left. Coleslaw is going fast though. Better belly up if you expect to get some. :smilebig:

Seems to be bringing in his options. Have any DT's visited . (Donald, Jenigan, Hageman, Quarles, Sutton) I have not heard of any other than talks at the combine

Lets bring em ALL in ... no need for us to get "bullied" !

The last thing we need is a team that drafts higher then us,

holding us hostage as to who we want and lording it over us that we may trade with them.

Emery you gotta keep the options open that we dont want anybody.

No, it's just he's not an injured player with weight issues who isn't even a top-priority need.
That's all. Other than that it's the exact same situation as with Nix.

Dix is inj'd and FS isn't a top priority? Why isn't NT a priority when Ratliff is likely the starting DT this year since we ran a 4-3 Under last year which puts the DT next to the RDE and Allen is coming to play next to Ratliff?

Do you all remember how Dan Hampton used to call Fridge "Biscuit" because he said he was just one biscuit short of being 350lbs. Well I'm gonna call Nix "Pork Chop" because he's just one chop short of being 350lbs too. He may be at 330lb now but give him a year in the NFL and by next offseason he'll be 350lbs again and as he gets old even more.

William Perry couldn't play well at 350lbs and I doubt this kid can either but we'll see. Overweight guys usually don't have long prosperous careers.

People had the same concerns about Jeffery, and a year in the NFL and an offseason got him in great condition. It's up to the player and their determination to make it in the NFL. If Nix is drafted by a 3-4 team to play NT then he probably would bulk back up to 350 range, if he's taken by a 4-3 team he probably stays at 330 or continues to drop weight, IF he's determined to stick in the NFL, but no one knows that.

2 career sacks doesn't really bode well for a 4-3 DT. There are plenty of other options at 14 and 51 that are natural 4-3 dts. No need to try to force a square peg into a round hole and make Nix a 4-3 DT. Combined with injury risks and the ND factor that guarentees he will be over drafted, no thanks.

Grizz, but if the team wants him to play NT in the 4-3 and 3-4 he fits that need well and could well beat out Paea for a starting job next to Ratliff.

JJ, you don't unless everyone you wanted is off the board at 14 and you cannot trade back; THEN you can be comfortable pulling the trigger. Worst case scenario:
Donald/Dix/Pryor/Gilbert are all off the board and no trade partners can be found THEN you can look at a guy like Nix or Jernigan, whichever one you like better to fill whatever role you wanted them to.

Theres still more then that out there Bro. This is going to get interesting.

Have we got DE and LB as a lock ... as if we dont need any ?

Seems that way. Trenches and Backfield ...

Would I take two DT's and two Safety's in the first four rounds ?

    GIMME TWO !!

Because lets face it thats where the whole goddamn thing fell apart at.

you can not compare the sacks Nix had in college because he did play a 3-4 NT. His job was to plug the middle and he did. It says a lot that he had 2 sacks, not sure if the QB ran into him and he pushed the pocket back to get credit for a sack or what but he was not chasing after the QB in college. He does have a pretty quick 10 yd split in his 40 though which is why as a 43 NT many believe he could collapse the pocket and if single teamed would be a threat as a NT to get to the QB. Matched one on one he will be a nightmare, double teaming him would prevent teams from doubling up on other linemen like Allan, Houston, or Ratliff. Probably not the Bears first choice but an interesting thought,.

Yeah, the same had crossed my mind. You leave those three single teamed and plus have McClellin shooting at the QB.... theoretically, you are going to have your hands full and the QB will be wearing a diaper on the next series.
