Every DeadHead knows the answer to that, Jerry Garcia told us.

The sky was yellow and the sun was blue.

Well Brunell was in 93 I think...right. Which would have been 1 year after they acquired Farve, and again, he was drafted in the 5th round. Ty Detmer was drafted in the 9th round the year they traded their number 1 pick to acquire Farve. So No...I don't think any of those guys was brought in with the thought they would take over for Farve one day...especially since he made the Pro Bowl his first year as a starter. Hasselback wasn't drafted till 98 in the 6th round...again, he wasn't brought in to take over for Farve.

Buck, we talking about quality of play or round they were drafted, you keep switing it up. They picked early, but you mocked b/c the guys they picked early didn't turn out, pointed out the probowl guys behind him and it's they were picked late. make up your mind foo

LOL! Well now I'm confuzzled! If we're talking about replacements for Farve, I'm talking about the round they were drafted. Yes, Brunell and Hasselback turned into good NFL QB's, but none were really meant to replace Farve(and none of which aside from Rodgers, who was drafted in round 1 were drafted by Thompson).

IF we're talking about Ted Thompsons draft history...which started in 05, then I'm talking about quality of first round picks. He just hasn't done a great job.

These are his first round picks:

    2005: 24: Aaron Rodgers
    2006: 5: AJ Hawk
    2007: 17: Justin Harrell
    No first rounder in 08
2009: BJ Raji at 9, Clay Matthews at 26(who they traded back into the first round to get)
    2010: Bryan Bulaga
    2011: Derek Sherrod
    2012: Nick Perry
    2013: Datone Jones

Like I said...not that great in round 1.

well lets just forget this entire thing then :)

I'd say first 5 first round picks were winners, last few not so much,.

4Da, the more I read about the kid & the more tape I watch I'm liking the pick more & more. Someone else mentioned that he makes our nickel defense better against the run, which is an excellent point & extremely important part of a nickel defense that few people think about. I'm ready to see who we pick tonight!

Justin Harrell is a winner? The guy started 2 games in 4 years and had 17 tackles...TOTAL! And BJ Raji has only had more than 20 tackles once in his career and has gone 2 years without a sack. Like I said...good in the middle rounds...first round...eh

Raji and Matthews, didn't see Harrell in there. I wouldn't knock Raji, you don't expect a 3-4 NT to get a ton of sacks, he's there to plug lanes and force action to the DE's and LB's.

Yeah, I don't think they use him like they could. He could be similar to Ngata in Baltimore who always at least records a sack every season and has had multipole 40 plus tackle seasons.
