Hope not, I'm a big Collins fan. If he comes back from the injury and plays like he did pre-injury we've got a nasty DL.

Butkus, you don't have to tell me how good Collins is, the team last year looked at him as every bit as good as Melton. But I don't see how the team can keep
Ratliff/Paea/Ego/Collins/Sutton/Izzy, when there is also a chance that Houston will see time at DT also, that's 7 guys rotating inside, seems someone has to go, and Collins is the only one that cannot play multiple positions.

It's not a knock on him at all, if the Bears cut him he's going to get a job somewhere real quick.

I'm on that bandwagon too. Nate has shown enough and is young enough to stick around if he's medically good to go. He outplayed Melton last year in limited reps of course. And he's low cost. He might have to start the season PUP/inactive but I'd keep him around.

DL roster locks: Allen, Houston, Young, Ratliff, Ego, Sutton
    I'd keep: Bass, Collins, Paea

I don't see how Izzy makes the team now after drafting 2 DLs in the first 3 rounds.

Corny is also on the outside looking in, unless he can get a shot to play OLB, which was his college position

Good point, Ric. I totally forgot about Corny.

Things could change before the season but Emery said he will probably want to go with 10 Dline guys. He'd like 5 ends and 5 tackles but he said he could go with 6/4 if needed.

Who would be the 10? Who are the odd men out?

If he's keeping 10, it's between Izzy and Corny, I would think Izzy but Corn has more upside/potential

I'd say the 9 mp listed plus Izzy. Unless Washington can show something at DE or they move him to LB I think he's the odd man out. If he does crank it up then Izzy is probably on the bubble. Of course we could lose one or two of these guys to injury in camp or the preseason too so who knows how it'll shake out. At least now we have a the depth to sustain the line in the event we do lose a key guy.

That's probably it unless Emery finds a udfa that impresses in preseason. If not, and assuming he's not moved to LB, I keep Corny>Izzy because youth/upside has to tip the scale.
