Apparently Cutler said a week ago that there were a couple ligaments they are worried about and if injury was a high ankle sprain he would not need a walking boot.

Reports tell the score's Matt Abatacola (never could spell his name), that he had a torn tendon in his ankle. They needed 4-6 weeks before they can evaluate if they need to do surgery or not. That means by the end of this week they will know if they need to do surgery or not.

If they do, his season is officially over.

aw crap..... I REALLY like McCown, but would like to have Cutler if we hit the playoffs (pretty iffy any way at the moment).

FT or moving on? No way they give him a long term deal after missing 1 game, 6 games, 1 game and now now possibly 8 more games.

This is the problem w/backups, when the starter goes down for the year, not just a few games, they are your starter...and we all agree McCown is not a capable starter.

I really didn't think a long term deal was ever in the cards. I still think they do a one year deal either a contract or they tag him.

For a season that started out so promising, it sure went down the toilet fast. Just when you think this season couldn't possible get worse - it does. :-(

Season was going to be, at best, 8-10 wins. W/this many inj's I'm pretty damn happy that we won 6, and will probably win another 2-3.

I also think he's turning into a chicken. Literally. His "ticks" are out of control.

    Well, my thoughts are:

    1) It was NOT his groin screwing his game up against the Lions
    2) If the worst case scenario happens, I hope he is had for a discount, preferably not a FT next year.
    3) We HAVE to find a QB in the draft. We need help on defense, for sure, but there's no reasonable way we can rely on a 32 year old injury prone QB next year, and a 35 year old backup to take us anywhere.

I was thinking this morning, that I almost with we'd lost those 6 so we could get a stud draft pick. We're going to do "just good enough" to assure ourselves:

    1. No playoffs
    2. Mediocre draft pick
    3. And Tucker will probably be back with his "Tuckered Out Defense" again next year.

    Well great.

"What if" we did not have all these injuries on Defense, and "What if" Cutler had not gone down?

Could have been a promising season.

Does this mean my pre-season prediction that we'll sweep the Packers this year is just a pipe dream? :D

Do not forget that a higher draft pick does not always turn out to be a keeper: Matt Leinart, Vince Young, Rex Grassman, Brady Quinn, Jamarcus Russell, etc.

Worst case, we could just break out Jerry Angelo's draft dart board that he left at Halas Hall and use that puppy. Jerry used to call it his "Wonder Board" because you never had to wonder why to draft a guy......just check where the dart hit. Rumor has it that it mostly listed safeties and busts on it.

Your thoughts need to stop dwelling on Cutlers groin. Just step away from his groin...

Well when everyone said that it WAS his groin and not his ankle as reported, I think that if this rumor proves true he has some right to point it out that he was the one defending Trestman and Co who said that it was not the groin, but the ankle

yeah... I know. I'm dumb, but even I figured that one out :p

point is, let it go either way... I don't care any more if it was his groin, his ankle or his wifes groin.... ok, I may have some interest there, but still...

Well, I'm not meaning to do it as a "HAHAHAHA I told you idiots!!!", but rather trying to kill unfair assessments of Trestman as a coach. I think that will help lead towards a more honest review of him at the end of the year.

I think the entire defense must have torn tendons - and every time I watch them, I feel like I've had a kick in MY groin (or maybe it's my ankle)...
