Let me pose the following DL scenario which is of course hypothetical but also not unrealistic:

Next week Emery signs Bennett (DE/DT)
Peppers cut...$10m in cap space added immediately for above w/ $4m more to follow on June 1
Say NO to Melton's contract demands, he gone bye bye
Re-sign Wootton (DE), Ratliff & Collins (DT/NT depth), all pretty cheap deals there
Draft Aaron Donald @ 14 (stud 3tDT and Melton's replacement)
Draft bpa DE and DB in rounds 2/3 (any order)

That puts the DL back together after last year's mess.

^^^This. I'd take Hageman if Donald wasn't there.

I really hope so. Would love to see EBennett negotiate a cap friendly deal to stick around.

I really like Jernigan and DOnald, but they only make sense if we lose Melton.

Well one thing for sure is we'd be a lot better off than we are now with our Front Two because that's all of the starters we have under contract right now.

For what Melton probably wants vs Bennett I'd take his versatility over Melton and I'd draft Donald to replace Melton too. Collins and Ratliff give us immediate vet depth at NT and 3 tech and we draft or sign another DT or two somewhere along the line. Wootton's versatility and his youth make him a good guy to re-sign as well but I'd be looking for another in the early to mid rounds to compete with him and Bass and Washington.

I don't know that we'd have a dominant player on that line but across the board the talent and depth is there.

Not as much as Donald. Jernigan is more of a run stuffer and bull rusher although if Donald was taken before #14 Jernigan rates as the next best DT and he'd play NT with Paea and Collins and Ratliff would play the 3 tech spot if we sign them. Bennett can move into that spot on passing downs too.

    Soul,
Two brothers on the same team , I like that. It develops family bonds in America.
Plus Bennett earns his paycheck which never hurts.

IMHO this is our best/most realistic shot at a "quick fix" at one of our needs. Not too many pass rushers hit FA and he's not a dominant guy but is quality nonetheless. Will he take less money to play with his brother? Prolly not. Could that be a tiebreaker in a toss up money wise with other teams? Possibly.
