Slauson is playing in place of Garza, YES!!!
Of course all of the 1s are out but it is nice to see that Slauson is the second option.
Good to see. We were talking about just that in another thread. I hope he can eventually be Garza's successor next year. A Bushrod, Long, Slaussen, Brown, and Britton line doesn't sound half bad right about now.
HOPE THEY GET THE LINE GOING SOON TAKING WEBB OFF IS A START
So I heard a lot of reports about this, they said they'll have the starting 5, then carry 2 more guys, a swing interior OL and swing OT on the game day roster, then they'll carry one more on the roster. This means they need to have someone that can play C should Garza go down, preferably it would be the swing G/C but most likely it would be Slauson
Garza's been quickly declining in skill, and while the thought of a new center is nice, I don't know if Slauson even played it in college. I know for sure he didn't get much, if any reps with the Jets, seeing as Mangold has owned that spot since being drafted.
I'm not sure I like that. I'm happy about Garza being oved out (assuming he is still marginal), but then that meansthe left side is nat as solid as we thought. The right side is still an issue and now we have someone learning at the C position. So we have a solid LT and that's it now?
Well, at least Kromer isn't standing on the hilltop screaming about how he likes out OL. I kinda miss that about Tice. He never really let reality get in his way.
Yep, and that's all it is right now. When you carry 7 active on game day versatility becomes a huge factor. We can't activate a backup OC so one of the OGs has to be able to fill that spot if Garza gets hurt. That's what kept Spencer around last year and with him gone the only other OC prospect who'll be playing on game days is Slauson. This is just to get him some practice reps and game reps there now before the season begins. Garza will still be starting when the season starts.
Soul, it's starting to look like we're in complete agreement on the o-line.
Scary huh? Even Ric and I are on the same page with most of it. But really Henry, it can't get anymore obvious than it's becoming as far as what needs to be done and what direction they need to go in. I care less about the mistakes that are gonna come from building the unit than I do about seeing the same old guys doing the same stupid shit one more year while Tice blows smoke up everyone's ass about how good they are and how dynamic his offense is gonna be. Change is good even when it looks a lot like this right now.
Anything that gets Garza off the line is just fine by me. Slauson and Bushrod held that left side on lockdown, though, so no reason to mess with that.
I actually heard they weregoing to carry 8 on the OL
Garza will start the season at starting C but won't finish it there.
BiH, they are going to carry 8 on the roster, but only 7 on the game day roster.
ah, sure. makes sense
They'll probably carry 8 on the 53 man roster but they can only dress 47 players for games so only 7 will be active on game days.
EDIT: Ooops already answered. Sorry.
Me too but unless he's injured I don't see it happening this year. I'm curious about the rookie OCs and whether or not they show any promise. Longeran doesn't have a lot of great physical tools but he did play against some tough lines in college so I'm wondering it he's shown anything in camp that would lead anyone to believe he's a prospect more than just as suspect.
