I'm hearing Aaron Murray from other Bears fans, but I really haven't paid attention to any of the prospects outside of Johnny Football this year. BTW, if, for whatever reason, he were to fall into the 2nd, I would be very happy with drafting him, and even trading up (if it doesn't cost a lot)

None, at least till after the 5th round. If Cutler goes down, it won't matter, not catching lightning in a bottle again.

Um, I think that was more on the coaching staff and the overall talent level of the skill position players (and o-line) than it was of McCown. Whoever, wherever Emery finds his guy, he should get him.

Zach Mettenberger has the ideal size, rocket arm strength and good downfield vision.

Yeah, I'd rather not but if Tom Savage falls far enough, I'd be just fine with a 6th round flyer spent on him. Love his arm talent.

From the 2nd and beyond we should be looking at who's there and looking for value. Frankly, I have no idea how Trestman values skill sets so I don't even have a name to throw out.

    Mettlenberg
    Murray
    Thomas
    Boyd

Those are just guys who I think could have value later but who knows who Tresty likes and who will slip

What about trading with Tampa for Mike Glennon. Looked decent in his first season but now Lovie has named McCown as their starter and hasn't ruled out drafting a guy. Sounds to me like he doesn't rate Glennon highly. If we rated him last year then he's done nothing in his first season to harm his reputation I don't think.

I don't think a QB will be drafted by the Bears this year.

We have two what do we need with another right now, use our draft picks on players we need this year not 3 or 4 years down the line.

Are we talking building for the future or stop gap ?

If for the future we dont have the money when defense is paramount.

If for stop gap go get the Clevland guys now in F.A.

Remember : Josh McCown was a stop gap ... Trestman built him an OL and coached him.

    No wonder he looked good.

CHICAGO BEARS as Quarterback U ? It could happen.

So far the Packers have that title. Actually we have it now.

Thanks to our ol' buddy Lovie !

2 guys that have physical tools with junk heads and mechanical issues that Trestman could work with draft Logan Thomas and give Trestman 3 years to educate/repair him...and if/when released I'm intrigued by Mark Sanchez for Trestman. I would have never touched either with prior coaching staffs; but I have a crazy belief this staff can actually help qbs get better.

Really. Remember this was a team that spit out QB's like no other for DECADES.

    All of which went nowhere.

And in one year we produced Josh McCown who was washed up.

And signed by blind faith in Tampa because of Trestman.

    Makes you stop and wonder.

We could be the next Quarterback U.

    This time turning out winners.

And this is why you draft one now, to see if you hit. When Cutler first got here all we heard was we don't need a qb, we don't need a qb, then last year it was shit we have to resign Cutler regardless b/c we don't have a QB. You don't wait to get a qb until you need one, that's how you end up having a qb carousel.

Find a kid you like in the mid to late rounds and grab them, if they don't turn into anything drop them and get another one keeping doing it until you hit.

Exactly, this is why a guy like Logan Thomas in the 5th is a move id like. He can make all the throws and has second to none size and athletics. Problem is, that ability is raw. He had a college history of making bad decisions and accuracy problems. Is he a day one starter? No. But give Trestman a few months/years to develop him and we may have a gem. And if not, then at least we didn't watch a season tank because we put ourselves in a position of needing a qb right damn now.

So much of the draft stuff is where a player goes instead of what a player can do. Who's to say that Brady would have ever started a game if he went somewhere other than the pats? It's all about finding great mutual fits for both player and team.
