The Green Bay Packers and eight-time Pro Bowl defensive end Julius Peppers have agreed to terms on a three-year contract, a source told ESPN's Josina Anderson.

Brace Hemmelgarn/USA TODAY SportsJulius Peppers will join the Packers, according to a source, after spending his last four years with the Bears.
Peppers, 34, was released Tuesday by the Chicago Bears, who saved $18.183 million against their salary cap by parting ways with the 12-year veteran.

Peppers spent the past four seasons with the Bears after being selected by the Carolina Panthers in the first round of the 2002 draft. He signed a blockbuster six-year deal worth $84 million in 2010, and restructured his contract on two occasions to give the Bears more cap room.

But in doing so, each time, Peppers' cap number grew in the later years of the deal. When Peppers last restructured his contract with the Bears in 2013, his cap numbers grew to $18.183 million in 2014 and $20.683 million in 2015.

Peppers led the Bears last season with 7.5 sacks -- the fewest he's had in a Chicago uniform. Peppers has 118.5 career sacks, which ranks second in the league since his entry (2002).

In four years playing for the Bears, Peppers started in every game (64), and racked up 37.5 sacks in addition to making the Pro Bowl in every season with the team except for 2013.

ESPN.com Bears reporter Michael C. Wright contributed to this report.

He had a Bears legacy? Even if he did..... if Steve McMichael and one Punky QB known as McMahon could survive going to the packers after leaving the Bears (granted they won a Super Bowl) then so can Peppers.

To me, any true Bear would never sign with the Pack.

Well hopefully this helps decrease the Pack sack total:)

So they get Peppers, and we get MD Jennings.

Not a good trade for us.

3yr 30 mil for Peppers? have at it, his 6 sacks aren't worth 10mil, let along the 18 we would have owed him.

And it's not they get Peppers we get MD Jennings, it's we got Houston and Willie Young for about 1/2 of Peppers contract(Houston cost the Bears about 5mil, Young about 2mil) I'll take that in a heartbeat.

Lets put it another way, If Peppers gets his 10mil this year, he would have equated to Houston/Young/Ratliff/DJ Williams.

Who would have wanted Peppers over those 4 guys?

okay my bad, Pep's first year is only worth about 8mil, which is again what we paid Houston and Young, again I'd rather hvae those 2DE's then 1 to old Peppers at the same money.
