MP, no he's not locked into the SS role.
Being the Rams' 2nd pick in the 1st round. I could see the Rams dangle that 13th pick, especially to teams wanting a defensive player because everyone suspects the Bears are going DT or DB there. I could definitely see someone leapfrogging the Bears if they suspect the Bears want their guy.
In that case, draft Telvin Smith in the second and convert him to S.
Ok, all the better then. The reports I've read about CP pretty much all say "in the box, run D" type safety and aren't as high on his coverage/ballhawk skills. If incorrect, I'm all for maximizing good options.
Does anyone really think Conte is going to be back from his well timed surgery ?
The guy stood there and watched Rodgers throw the winning TD pass.
In a way in his own way he may have been doing us all a favor.
Better G.B. go up against either Frisco or Seattle then us last year. Nyuk!
That being said we may have to go TWO safetys in the first four rounds.
I dont have an argument with that. But who ? Thats Emerys job.
what I have read is that he can do both, but is better suited for SS, there is a difference, Dix can also do both but is better suited for FS. Most can ONLY do one or the other. Loston is really the only other I can think of that has been said to possibly do both, but most of what is said is that he'll struggle at FS and will probably have to be ONLY a SS. Nothing I've read has been worded that strongly towards Pryor.
What I've read about Buchannon is also that he projects as a nard hitting SS but has the coverage/ball skills to also get a look at Free. He had a ton of INTs in his college career and faced no slouch in competition in the PAC-10. Stanford, USC, ASU, Oregon, etc.
I'm not saying he's Pryor's equal as a prospect but he'll still be on the board in 2 where Pryor almost certainly won't.
Bucannon and Loston are really the only two S's I like after the 1st, there are a few others but for the most part those are the only ones worth a damn you can hope to be there when the Bears pick in the 2nd and 3rd. Ward won't be there, the team will either have to WAY trade back, or reach for Ward at 14, no way they move up and he won't be there at 51.
Damn, like someone above said.....he seems to hit high but Wow!!!! What a hitter that deserves to wear the jersey but he might get into some troubles like was said as we'll above
It has to be Safety at #1 or #2 ... DT has to be in play in the first 2 rounds.
Safety in rounds #3 or four ? Lets bring them in as a pair.
Drafting a CB that can play Safety in rounds 3 or 4?
Thats one DL and three DB's in the first four rounds.
Now I will present it to you that there is another DT in round five.
AND ITS ALL CONTES FAULT !! Got to get a laff in here somwheres ...
That would be incredible to move down get extra picks, grab Hageman followed by solid safety that to me would would be the topper to all these preseason moves.
What do you do ... when in years past ... you have had the least amount of draft picks in the NFL ?
THANX JERRY !!!
Oh yea we traded for a draft pick and the player DROPPED DEAD !
Smart move there Angelo.
JJ - You're on autopilot again!
And funny ! Hey I cant help it ... they give me the history to goof on !
Id like to get past that point and us as CHICAGO BEARS be takin seriously again.
