So, when it is all said and done, what do you think our final record will be? I am going with 11-5 OR 12-4...with a gun to my head, I voted for 12-4. Call me crazy, but I am expecting BIG things from the team this year. I think that the D is going to be nasty and MORE aggressive/less predictable than in years past, and I expect to see an efficient offense which will be able to find the end zone with some regularity. The back half of our schedule also shapes up NICELY for some serious late season momentum, which should prove to be quite beneficial as we head into the playoffs! :)

I took same as last year. Cannot see us being worse than 9-7, but maybe 11-5

10 wins. This team looks better than I thought it could be in the first year of Trestman. The player upgrades were mostly better than I could have hoped for. If you would have told me 6 months ago that we'd have 4 new starting OL guys of THIS quality, I would have thought that was impossible. I never dreamed our WR corps would have this much talent. It didn't seem possible.

Even the defense surprised me. This looks like a BETTER defense than we had last year. Younger. Quality depth. A coach who looks just as good as we had (on defense).

Our head coach is 1,000 times sharper than what we had. We finally have an offense to go with a solid defense. I think our special team unit could be even BETTER than last year (Hester could have one of his better years now that he's focused 100% on returns).

You look at all of this and I don't see how we could possibly do worse than last year's 10 wins, unless Cutler goes down to injury.

Not sure I would say that. Lovie was a brilliant coach. He just did not focus on offense. I am glad the defense still looks to have a year left in them, and the offense finally has some life though

Lovie was a VERY nice man. I liked the guy as a person. I also respected him as a defensive coach. I think his defenses were so good that we had success as a "good but not great" team. But I think part of his undoing was his stubbornness. He also couldn't make in-game adjustments (heck, I think he was overwhelmed just trying to figure out how and when to throw the challenge flag). And he didn't have a clue about building a team with a solid offense. If the guy had a decent offensive coordinator & a GM who knew talent, maybe things would have been much better.

I hope he gets another chance as an NFL coach, and learns from his mistakes with the Bears. Hope he gets a solid OC, and lands on a team with a solid GM. I wish him luck.

I really want to predict double digit wins because I believe the potential is there but there was so much turnover and change this offseason I have to think there are going to be some rough patches and growing pains galore. At least the first several games. Enough to hold them to 9 wins. If they do better I will go to a crow buffet.

I think this will be the best offense the Bears have put on the field since 1995 when Erik Kramer set all the team passing records & 3 skill position players finished with over 1000 yards (yes kids, that actually happened. ONCE!).
Yeah......we thought that was gonna happen last year, I know........
And I know it's just preseason but I saw the line open real holes for the running game for the first time in ages. I was impressed with the run blocking, it does look considerably improved.
I hope to see Matt Forte run for 1300+ yards this season & add another 500+ on catches.

that said, despite my optimism for a potential offensive awakening, I don't know if this is a 10-win team in year 1 under a new staff, if 10 wins will be enough to get in this year or if the defense can keep taking the ball away like it did under Lovie.
I'm going to guess 8-8 just because I won't feel as let down when 7-9 or 8-8 really happens. Just me but I think 11-5 or 12-4 is crazy talk.

I made a long and detailed breakdown of every game on the previous board, so im sticking with that prediction:

    11-5

(and you better bump this thread when the season is over to see who was right)
