Tim Tebow cut by New England Patriots

The Tim Tebow Experience is over in New England.

Tebow was released by the team Saturday, ending another chapter in the former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback's wandering pro career, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport was told by a source informed of the move.

Despite the requisite fervor draped upon Tebow's every move, it's far from a surprising transaction if the Patriots intended to fill their 53-man roster with the best players available. With Ryan Mallett firmly in place as Tom Brady's backup, Tebow played himself out of the role during an underwhelming preseason.

Tebow was signed in June, a move that made some sense considering the presence of offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels -- Tebow's former Denver Broncos coach who drafted him in 2010 -- and Bill Belichick, whose affinity for University of Florida players is well-documented.

Still, the Patriots needed to see Tebow develop as a quarterback in time for the regular season, and he didn't come close: His 11-of-30 passing performance over three appearances netted just 145 yards, with a pair of touchdowns and two picks.

Coming off an unproductive and chaotic 2012 campaign with the New York Jets, it's fair to wonder if Tebow's days in the NFL have drawn to a close.

Asked after Thursday's preseason finale against the New York Giants if he was worried about sitting on the roster bubble, Tebow was typically stoic:

"I'm blessed, because of my faith, that I don't have to worry about the future because I know who holds my future," Tebow told reporters. "It's something I try to live by. It really gives you a lot of peace in whatever circumstance I'm in."

Those circumstances, today, will pull Tebow away from New England. Where he lands next is anyone's guess.

Nah, some team that cannot draw might give him a call. Talented or not, a lot of people love the guy.

Tebow should try the CFL. He's too young to become priest already.

With one week of practice and playbook review, he would be the best QB on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers roster. There aren't any other teams in Canada that are in such dire need of an upgrade at the position.

He is not a QB. And it is time for him to admit to it. He is not coming to canada, montreal has his rights and they are not calling. If tebow can not p[lay on a postage stamp , he is not going to do any better on our field. I wish he would just hang it up, sick of tebow stories. People laugh at the CFL, well there is about 16 QB 's up here that are 10x's the QB.

He could try praying harder. That seems to be working well.

He could sign with the Jags...

Jaguars Fans To Hold ‘Sign Tebow’ Rally Today
After falling 0-2 on the season, Jaguars fans are ready for change.
And, according to those behind Jags-Tebow.com, that change should be signing free-agent quarterback Tim Tebow because, as the site says, “why not?”

A group of Jags’ faithful are planning a rally at 3:16 pm today outside of Everbank Field in Jacksonville in an effort to convince Jaguars management to sign Tebow.

There was a story up here that he turned down a bunch of CFL teams ,but montreal owns the rights so no other team would be allowed to talk to him. Nice BS story.

You know your team is in trouble when the fans actually WANT Tebow.

6 people attended that rally. Hard to think ESPN didn't overplay this one. Why they're dying for Tebow on t.v. is beyond me.
