I already have my 5 gallon can of kerosene and the pitchfork is in the front closet and all it needs is to be sharpened up a bit. :smilebig:

We have this same thread ("we have a really tough schedule coming up!") every freakin' year.

Funny thing is, those predictions are based on hindsight almost exclusively. The NFL changes every year and by a lot. Teams that were really good the year before, end up being really bad (Houston, Atlanta). Teams that were nothing special the last season quickly rise to become serious contenders (Carolina, New Orleans). Its hard to predict. What looks like a "tough" schedule can end up being no big deal and what looks like a "soft" schedule can become pretty brutal.

LOL. This is Emery's 3rd season and Trestman/Tucker's second season. We're all in the giddy "honeymoon" phase now. But things will begin to get a bit dicey with another 8-win year, and looking up at Green Bay's backside (and no playoffs). Some folks will always trot out excuses no matter where we end up in the division (even if Detroit or Minny moves past us). But a lot of other fans will be "over it" if the team under-performs.......especially the defense under Mel Tucker. Trestman think's Mel is "The Guy" and has stuck by him. Let's see what happens.

I agree. And some folks are already cuing up the "excuses" if we have another 8-win season. But you're right. And this is the NFL, where we shouldn't hope for an "easy schedule" to make us look good. The best teams are those who can beat the best teams. Period. No excuses. No whining. You're either a winner - or a loser.

Exactly. So many times have i seen a schedule for next year, and teams we thought would be easy wins, arent. And teams that we expect to beat us, have an off year for whatever reason.

Well W/McCown as the starter you don't have to worry about that.

Agree, JABF. For example, the fact the we are playing Carolina next year on the road has been known for a while (it's set in advance since we play the entire NFCS). Based on the end of last season just a few months ago, you'd have to say that was a SURE LOSS.

Well, fast forward a few months and things look way way different. The Bears have had a very good FA, have higher draft picks than Carolina, and Carolina has had a terrible offseason thus far IMO. They lost/cut their only real WR, are in cap hell due to 2 bad RB contracts, and now Cam Newton is hurt. The Panthers may end up being a not very good team next year despite having Hardy and Kuechley.

We take every home game. On the road we lose to N.E., G.B., Minnie, Detroit, Atlanta, Caro, and Frisco.

9-7. I hope Im wrong. We'd have to come out of the gate with wins at Atlanta and Carolina.

The media would wake up and notice us if we won Atl. and Caro.
