I have no idea how this game will end, but i just watched Trestman call three pass plays in a row and then kick the FG when we had first and goal from the two-yard line.

Steelers just took a 10 point lead on Detroit, 4th qtr with 2:29 left. Now if we can just pull off the win today.

All I can figure is that he doesn't have much faith in our run blocking. I don't either for that matter. We need a stud center to help us next year, so we can run between the tackles. They just don't seem to open any holes for Forte or Bush. Forte has gotten his yardage this year, mostly on his own. Pathetic.

Been saying for weeks that Trestman is more unbalanced with his playcalling than Tice was last year. Not saying, in any way, that Tice is better, but that just shows Trestman likes rolling the dice

Call me "old-school", but first and goal from 2-yd. line, I pound it on the ground.

DavidL, the OL is horrid in run blocking. I would love to see them pound the rock down there also, but when you don't have the horses to do it, then you have to go somewhere else. Forte still have 100+ total yards and a TD.

Yes, but how often does our offensive line get any "push" running up the middle in normal formations, let alone having all of the defenders stacked up on them?

The offensive line should be embarrassed that the coaches don't have any confidence in their ability to push it in 2 yards. I was surprised they didn't get a least one shot.

That begs the question, who is our weakest link on the interior of our offensive line? My first thought would be "Garza", but since I have no stats to back that up, I have no clue.

I would run that pitch-out to Forte. He 's been getting positive yards with that all season, including today. Or pound it with Bush behind Long/Mills. If neither of those plays work, have McCown roll out and hit M. Bennett or run it in himself.

Not me. As soon as we were first and goal from the two, I yelled NOW RUN IT! at my TV. I had a hunch that Trestman would come out throwing. If other teams are studying the film of our games, there is no surprise when Trestman throws the ball first and goal from 1 yd, line.

He's tried all of those, minus the roll out, which should definitely be a consideration.

They expect a pass because they know our run blocking sucks

So surprise them-- and me -- run the damn ball. He can still pass on 2nd and 3rd.

I agree with you, in that we have to experiment with different ways of running the ball into the end zone, but that still doesn't change the fact that our offensive line sucks on running plays. It doesn't matter if they're surprised or not, we're still not very likely to score a TD running the ball.

Jeffrey,Marshall, and M. Bennett are all pretty decent blockers. That's I'd like to see Forte run wide more, rather than just slamming off-tackle.
