For as much I have given the McCaskeys the flack ,...
I sure hope she lives to see AND reap the fruits of whats she's done by placing Georgy in charge of things
I sometimes like to joke & rag on the McCaskeys, but I've always felt that Virginia was a classy lady. I've seen photos of her with her dad & she clearly idolized Papa Bear. She wants the Bears to win even more than we do. I do hope we win another Super Bowl for her soon. I like to think that with George McCaskey in charge now, we'll see that Super Bowl soon. He's brought in some excellent people.
Man, that video is pretty neat, thanks for posting it.........bit of a tear-jerker.
Pretty cool interview, not what I would have expected. Did anyone else notice the Lombardi Trophy in the background? Let's get another soon...
Yes, but I will not refer to the dumbardi trophy. It is the Super Bowl trophy. If it has to be named after anybody, it should be named the Halas Trophy. Where was dumbardi when Halas started the league????
L MAo MORE Smack material DUMBARDI
hey Shark ,... ask the packer fans you know if they like the turd down there in TURD PLACE
My boss is a pecker fan, so I'll pass on that insult for now. But here's one for a queenie... wait a minuite. This thread is about Ms. McCaskey's interview. go to the rival team forum for the queenie smack.
Well..... Since he is the winningest coach I have no issue with it being called the Lombardi
For every sell out at Soldier Field... Virginia gets another fur coat...
Classy Lady. A real BORN Bears fan.
IMO I'd rather see it the other way around, the NFC Trophy be called the Lombardi ,.. and the Super Bowl be called the Halas Trophy ,...after all if it weren't for Papa Bear ,... jus saying
105-35-6 is a more winning record than 318-148-31??? Maybe by percentage, but 318 beats 105 in my book.....
in any case, I really hope virginia gets to see another superbowl victory. She deserves it.
meh, I have no problem with it being called the Lombardi Trophy. Like it or not, more NFL fans (including casual fans) recognize Lombardi's name than Halas's. Also, Lombardi did win the first two Super Bowls, and that is what the trophy is awarded for, after all. If Halas had still been around and had won those first two Super Bowls, it would be named after him.
There is a reason why it was named the Lombardi and not the Halas. I am sure some Bear fans will say some sort of BS Conspiracy against the Bears.
All I know is every time a Bear fan mentions how it should be called the Halas Trophy I hang my head because they come across as having a massive inferiority complex.
Please don't put words or meanings in statements that aren't there. It was named Lombardi because there was already a Halas. I thnik Halas should have been elevated to the superbowl, and the NFC trophy should have been renamed to Lombardi. No conspiracy, no inferiority complex, no BS. Halas was the most influential in starting the league, he should get top honor.
I was not casting a shadow on you individually, but Bear fans in generally who come off as whinny asshats who feel they had something stolen from them.
It was named after him in memorial after he died. Out of respect to one of the men responsible for there being an NFL. Plus he won the trophy the first two years.
As you said, Halas already had one so what sense would it make to change it around? It wouldn't. Except you are wrong there. The NFC Championship trophy was not called the George Halas trophy until 1984 which happens to be just after he died.
If you want the Super Bowl trophy to be names after Halas perhaps he should have died before Lombardi. And no, I am not wishing an earlier death on Papa Bear than he had.
Either way Bear fans who complain about the name come off very petty.
I agree it would probably have gone that that way
One thing though,... whether thats was the full and complete interview I find it hard to believe and do feel bad for the 85erz, that she chose the ' 06 Bears over them in being the favorite moment ,... That one's leaving me with scratching my head
Boy, I'll choose my words more carefully in the future. I didn't expect the controversy.
No controversy friend. Just good old fashion discussions!
