At his renegotiated rate, he provides value as a backup in case of injury. He can play almost any position, albeit poorly. Scott will not be the answer when he gets back either. Too much injury history, he won't last the season. But please - PLEASE - find somebody to replace Webb next spring. Or maybe somebody else gets cut from another team in the upcoming weeks who's better and we can sign him to replace Webb? I doubt we get anything in trade value. It's either cut him, or keep till we replace him.

On a positive note, I did hear that during the off-season, Cutler finally was able to teach Webb how to tie his own shoes. Webb should get SOME recognition for hitting this milestone. Jay won't ever have to tie Webb's shoes during games. Hopefully, if we keep him, he'll learn to not let the "bad man" hurt "Mr Jay" during games - and understand that his job is to stop the "bad men" before they can hurt poor "Mr Jay" like a pinata getting beat with a baseball bat. Hopefully....

"JaMarcus, have a seat. I have bad news. We are demoting to you to second string. We are making room for a hungry young tackle named Jordan."

"What? Why? I'm hungry! I'm hungry all the time."

"No, not like that. We mean he is focused on playing football."

"I'm focused. Did you see I went dark on Twitter? Do you know how hard that was?"

"You... you still post on Twitter."

"Yeah, but I didn't post for like a week. It was the hardest week of my life."

"You didn't post for four days. That's not a week. Also, you have to take a paycut."

"Aww, c'mon. You can't do this."

"We've got offensive line starters making league minimum. You can't make more than they do."

"Okay, fine, whatever. I'm twittering this in protest just so you know. What else do you want?"

"Well, for the rest of the season, you have to live here. Coach Smith left it behind."

yeah.. it's getting better for him. He is really proud of being able to tiehis own shoes. Sometimes he forgets to put on his socks first though. Cutler has taken him under his arm though and gave him one of those QB sleeves that you put on your wrist with the plays on them. He even shoed the socks going on first and ten the sho tying with pictures of the bunny coming up out of te hole. It was a turning point for him when they demoted him to 2nd team and Cutler was not there to tie his shoes any more. He kept falling down on his plays. No one noticed and they all thought he was just running his plays like always. Then they noticed his shoes were untied. When they got that fixed, they thought he woul be able to stay on his feet, but that didn't work. I understand that to try to keep him on the team, they are flying in the guy that invented those weebles that wobble, but don't fall down to see if he can do someting with Webb.

I used to believe JW had a tremendous amount of talent, and that eventually it would translate to the field and we would have our proverbial "diamond in the rough". I have just re-watched the first two pre-season games, and I no longer feel that way. He never engages contact, he never finishes his blocks. He absolutely looks like a stunned spectator when on the field, like someone who has been caught in a bar fight and is looking for a way out. I don't want someone like that on this team. Hopefully Scott makes it back soon, and can be our swing this year.
