I agree, except I was more impressed by the N.O. defense. They look pretty solid to me. The "D" play calling by N.O. was stellar.

This is probably the hardest game to choose which one was the one to blame for the loss. Trestman's playing calling wasn't that great.
Marshall was most of the game a non factor and the defense in particulair the Dline hasn't been able to create the pressure on the QB..

Rob Ryan sure turned that team around overnight. I'm starting to think Tucker isn't the DC we were led to believe he was. Or maybe it's Mike Phair (our DL coach)? Did he get into Tice's OL pixie dust supply?

To answer the OP question, I said Trestman, Bennet and OL. You absolutely can not drop a pass on 4th down that hits you in the hands. Some have argued that the game was over by then. I say BS. It's not over till the final whistle blows (sorry for the Boxcar Willie quote). We still had a chance at that point. The D was playing well - what other team has held the saints to less than 30 points recently?

The OL gave up way too many pressures. Sack count wasn't bad, but Cutty was hit on way too many plays. And they are just bad at run blocking. The Forte runs up the middle might as well be into a brick wall. At least run him around the edge where Marshall and Alshon can show the OL how to run block.

It all comes down to Trestman. He might be too smart for his own good, and has over coached the players. He's got them thinking too much instead of just playing. I won't go into the play calling because it's too lopsided from trying to play catch up all the time. Maybe we are getting away from the WCO and developing a new offense - the TCO offense (Tomato Catchup Offense).

I agree, I too found it hard to pin point the loss. It definitely was a team loss, but I don't believe in these "only one choice" polls. Here is my break down:

    Trestman / coaching: 35%
    Defense: 35%
    Offense (total excluding Jay) 25%
    Jay: 5%

I put Jay in his own category, because he's got the most influential position. I really think Jay did the best he could and made some minor mistakes. The coaching and play calling was atrocious. Offense as far a the o-line, receivers and RBs they weren't up to snuff. Jay got blindsided a lot. Dropped passes.

And then there is the Defense, I've beat that dead horse enough. Besides Tillman, they are in a world of hurt.

This is a "D" that needs to get off the field before they burn out. The "O" needs to sustain drives and most of that falls on the play calling by Trestman.
He failed in the first half and it resulted in NO scores to put the Bears in a hole.

I agree with that, especially with our injury situation. The defense is going to need all the help it can get from the offense now. This not only means sustained drives on "O" but also to not have the offense turn the ball over.

We're paying Bush $3 Million a season to sit on the bench. That just baffels me. I am wondering if Bush is somehow in Trestman's dog house. If it was me I would be using BOTH Bush AND Forte on the field at the same time. Line up Forte at WR or FB and Bush at the RB slot. Make the Defense figure out whose going to run the ball.

The team lost, there were mistakes and great plays by all of the players. The plays that hurt the most was the TD before half time and a couple of the Jimmy Graham receptions.

    Tucker..

He's so invisible that he's usually not mentioned by name when posters point the finger, just 'the Bear D'. Talent level/injuries aside, we're indecisive, out of position, poorly prepped, & playing on our heels.

    Special mention: Lance Briggs

Yea, he's our leading tackler/leader which just means that 4th qtr. 4th down off sides, when it was obviously an attempt to do just that & sealed any chance we had, was even more painful. We've got enough problems without those kind of boneheaded moves.

I'm sweating bullets right now. I have Bennett as my TE on two teams. I really don't want to have to grab another TE, but it sounds pretty iffy for Bennett as a "game time decision"......I gambled last week on Calvin Johnson, as a game time decision, thinking surely they'd let him play. Then he didn't, and I wasn't around a computer to make a last minute change. I ended up losing the game. :-(
