No, please. I want this guy gone. He hasn't been a decent return guy since 2010 and he doesn't offer much if anything as a WR. If we're gonna take a shot at a guy who could be the dual purpose player we always wanted Hester to be let this kid Williams have a go at it.

He's not a bad player. He's just not a good player. He's a good example of a Lovie Smith era mediocre player who hangs on each year to make the roster. I have to believe we can do better than Weems this year. Kudos to the guy for clinging to a roster spot these past years though.

I would think the ST cupboard is nowhere near as bear as it was last season. If DeCamillis really needs this guy I'm going to really start questioning him.

I'd feel about the same. We finally knocked the guys pay down to what he's worth but for the past two years I thought he was the most over paid guy on the team. He's been making two to three times what a typical coverage guy would make and wasn't even the leader in STeams tackles. We need fresh blood on the return and coverage teams.

Oh boy, no this guy again. We've already got enough ST players, we don't NEED him. And I certainly don't want him to take someone's spot, too.

I still don't get it why they kept him and released EBennett instead.

    Current wr's on the roster:
    Marshal Morgan Wilson Tolliver Bellamy
    Jeffery Weems Williams Spurlock Edwards

Guys I think I would take Weems over

    Bellmany Edwards Spurlock Morgan

That means Weems is about 6th on a 6 man roster, and if Joe Anderson was still on the roster I'd take him over Weems also. The guy is squarely on the bubble. He should be doing EVERYTHING to try and make the team.

Because Weems agreed to accept the pay cut Bennett wouldn't. But in the long run it shouldn't make any difference. I was watching a video with "Moon" Mullin following the 3rd day of mini-camp and he said that Chris Williams has been making some nice catches as a WR and that he's by far the fastest of that group.

If I combine that news with what I saw in his CFL vids I'd say this is the kid who actually could play in a "Hester Package" only we'll have to rename it. LOL The NFL field is smaller than the CFL field and we seldom see a missed FG return in the NFL and with KOs' moved up that's eliminated a lot of big plays too. So I think CWill may be a bit more challenged as a return man in the NFL and needs to add to his value by being able to be a receiving threat. Apparently he's showing some ability to do just that.

The only reason I can think of for Weems still being around is his STeams coverage experience and maybe the protection of Phil Emery who brought him here to begin with. But that's not gonna cut it this year. We have younger and better player for that. Weems days as a top returner are over plus his strong point was never PRs it was KRs which are becoming somewhat extinct.

I don't see him beating out Williams so it's time to move on from Weems. He's wasted roster space and actually has been almost ever since he arrived.

Not a fan of his, but he's a good STer and I just want the most impressive player to win the job in the preseason. I hope Ford gets just as much of a look returning as anyone.

Williams, Ford, Spurlock all of them would rate ahead of Weems in my book.

I don't really care who wins the return job as long as he know you have to run north and south and not east and west.
