What (hypothetical) roster move would make you question Emery?

This can be re-signing anyone on the roster, drafting someone you really don't want on this team, or NOT addressing a particular position. BTW, ITT(In This Thread) we stay realistic.

    For me it would be:

    • Keep Peppers at his current contract
    • Doesn't draft a mid round QB prospect if we lose McCown
    • Re-signing McCown at anything above a hometown discount
    • Not spending multiple picks within the first four rounds on d-line
    • Not getting a 2nd TE that can actually catch (If we're playing with a lot of 2-TE sets, we kinda need one)

The no brainer would be Peppers at his current rate
Passing on any of the top DL prospects to take another tweener.
Draft one of the QBs in the first round.

I'm pretty sure that would start riots that would create more destruction than Mrs. O'leary's cow.

    1. Not providing a backup QB capable of winning games when Cutler goes down with his annual injury. It doesn't have to be McCown, if we need to let Josh walk. But it should be a QB capable of winning ball games. I'd go ballistic if we had another Haney back there, or some clueless fuzz-faced kid with no gears to win a game.

    2. Not rebuilding the DL with enough studs to make our defense credible again. This should be an all-in effort. No more Shea McClellen brain fart drafts either.

    3. Failing to fix the safety position. Our safety play is killing us.

    4. Failing to bring in a better D-coordinator if Mel stinks it up again this season (I know this isn't a roster move, but it's a biggie with me anyway).

Outside of completely ignoring the D (esp. the d-line) I don't really think there's too much out of bounds in a youth/rebuilding movement.

Not fixing the defense and not drafting a #2 TE.

Matching any price for McCown/overpaying for vets to sit on the bench.
Not getting a long term prospect for MLB
Drafting all Def in the draft.

Signing Cutler to a 120mil contract; oh wait....

    It's not a $120mil contract. It's a 3 yr/~$57mil contract with 4 pay-as-you-go non-guaranteed option years to follow (in effect). The headline eye-popping number is very deceiving.

I've been critical of and frustrated with Cutler plenty of times but this deal is market value for a QB of his caliber (above average but non-elite).
