ok, lets close 1 st FA day, we signed a few guys, lost a few guys, at the moment we have bout 10-12 mil under cap, and we still have E. Bennett to cut or restructure Jays or Marshalls contract, so we have more room to wiggle. Under this circumstances we can get 2 or maybe even 3 (with Cliffs help) impact FA's. Wanna hear ur thoughts on which guys u wanna resign and sign or at least positions. I think we should resign Wootton and Pnut, try to sign 1 DL and 1 DB, if all that is possible. Im aware we need to have room for a few depth guys and draftees, but hey we got Cliff

With the room we had/have and seeing the deal Ward got I'm pretty angry we didn't make a run at him. I wouldn't mind kicking the tires on a guy like Willie Young who had the 3rd most hurries(48) from a 4-3 end last year. He's got some upside and is only 28. Jason Babin is out there and is familiar with Tuckers scheme. He had as many sacks as Peppers last year and would come at a fraction of the cost probably. Of course our own guy Wooton is still out there. It's been pretty quiet on the BJ Raji front. Terrance Cody is out there and is only 25...but he's more of a nose, not a 3 tech.

As for corners, if we don't resign Tillman, it looks like Rodgers-Cromartie won't be back in Denver, he's 6'2'' and has great ball skills, and is only 27. Tarrell Brown was very good for the 49ers last year and is 29. Chris Clemons is out there at safety, as is Nate Allen, and Thomas Decoud just got released in Atlanta...he's not that far removed from a pro bowl year.

dont make any bets on the Bears getting any "impact" players from here on out, it will be more guys to fill out the roster, but the impact guys will be coming from the draft

The bad part about Tillman is that it's a waiting game.

So far it's looking good for us!

From my understanding, Tillman wants to return. The Bears want him to return. They are just letting him play in FA to see what he can get. Then the Bears counter, or don't. The wait is killing me.

I don't think Tampa will spend too much money on another CB. So thats a plus.

I had a coach in college who played with Goldberg at Georgia. He said he ripped a guys facemask off one day in practice in a fight. Freak!

I hope we re-sign Wotton, Tillman + a starting safety Not sure if possible but this is what I hope/dream we do.

Draft DT, DE,Safety in the first 3 rounds. (No particular order)

I'm not sure that there's a starting safety left out there...perhaps only decoud and allen.

Ok, so far we are not a better team, we need to get 1 starting DE, 1 starting CB and at least 1 starting S.
That is the necessity. Im not mentioning backups because they are all around on O and D (Qb, Rb, Te, DL, DB, St)

We need to get 1 of those starters in FA, other 2 in Draft and hope for the best. That is our only chance to get better.

a_mil, we were not going to get better via the draft, they needed to many players and they paid the qb WAY to much to improve via FA, they are filling the backup roles w/better players then were here before and they are going to fill the starters roles via the draft.

lol Its all Cutlers fault. Emery has said you build a good team thru the draft, so it is going to be a few years of drafting to get the team where he needs it to be. Its not going to be done in one year.(of drafting for the D) if you signed Ware and Revis that's 22 million dollars, then what just keep what they had last year?

yttocs, i'm all for what they are doing, i never thought for a minute they would be big spenders in the draft, but would build through the draft. The cutler contract just sealed the deal there; people wanted to pretend that the contract was some kind of atm full of penalty free cash, but that's not how it works.

As of now; re-sign (or resign for those with a sense of humor) Eben Britton, Charles Tillman and Zach Bowman then sign Terence Cody or re-sign Melton after he figures out the big deal won't happen til at least next year...then the draft is wide open for a 3T, SS, CB, TE, QB and returner
