I'm sure a good number here will say Conte unequivocally, and while Major Wright has more tackles than him, I will take the side of getting Major Wright off of our team first, and here's why:

    1. Wright is a horrible "8th man in the box", and, in our last monday night game, Jon Gruden even pointed out, that on many of the big runs, he was repeatedly in the wrong gap, which allowed for a big hole for the running back, and forced Conte to try to make far too many open field tackles. I'm not excusing Conte for not being able to, but regardless of who the safety is, the runningback almost always has the advantage in open space against a safety.
    2. I've repeatedly referenced the fact that the Bears played a LOT of cover 3 last year, because Major Wright is nothing but a liability in coverage. Now that Tillman has been hobbled/showed his age all year, they're not able to use the cover 3 as much, which really starts to show how weak Wright's play is, in coverage. Adding to the fact that the defensive line has been ineffective, those flaws are magnified
    3. While Major wright has more tackles than Conte, he is also a phase 2 ST player, which means his stats are inflated above Conte's.
    4. Wright is in a contract year, Conte is not.
    5. My memory may be a little off on this, but isn't Wright usually playing too deep when he's going back in coverage?
    6. Comparing career penalties, Conte has 5, for 50 yards, Wright, 6 for 95 yards. Seeing that Conte has had only 4 penalties as a FS, and Wright has all of his as a SS, it's easier to make the argument that Wright is more reckless than Conte.
Again, I'd replace both of them, as starters, while keeping them as backups, but if I HAD to get rid of one, it would be wright. I'm also emotionally against the guy, because he cut Urlacher's career short, with that knee injury he gave him at the end of the 2011 season(which Urlacher never regained form from).

Then you accidentally got the right answer! They both suck.

Gotta have two new starting safeties or we're in for another nightmare season next year. They both are bad. Maybe keep the best of the two for a backup.

Conte's the only one under contract for next year. Major Wright, like many other defensive players was "set for a contract year", and let us know his value quickly.

Major Wright is a total dumbshit. He takes terrible angles and hits the wrong gap over and over. These are mental mistakes that a 4th year player shouldn't be making. Let him walk in FA. Conte stays for his last year on his rookie contract. Bring in competition for FS and a new starter at SS.

YES. It's not like Daniel Manning, when, in his final season he shows that he's GOOD as a safety, only to be let go to another team. Major Wright is like a reverse Daniel Manning. Started off looking promising, and just regressed season to season.

I'm going the other way. I say Wright. Conte is out there doing something. Sometimes the guy actually makes a real difference in a game. Unfortunately, sometimes it is a good difference and sometimes a bad difference. I never hear ANYTHING about Wright unless it's bad. Either no contribution to speak of or a missed assignment.

I don't want either, but I'll keep Conte if I need to keep one. At least the guy is plugging along.

Picking Wright is the right choice (hold the applause)

Both must go, but if I am forced, I'll keep Conte.

Conte isn't exactly shining no doubt but he's at least made a few plays and will still be on his rookie contract. Major Dipshit Wrong is flopping in his contract year and isn't just making physical miscues like missing a tackle--he's making the same dumb mental mistakes we thought he was past by now.

Conte is the worst safety I have ever seen... I have no idea how he made this far or even to play college ball... The guy is clueless. Even when he makes a play it looks like if its on accident. If they have no one to bench him for then our depth is horrible. Cuz that guy is an epic failure. He's the Rick Mier experience on defense....

Archuletta was 100000000000000000000000x worse than Conte, and only 1x as bad as Wright.

I said Major Wrong, but Conte isn't exactly better. Seems to me QB's always throw to his side when there is a big pass that needs completed. If you were listening to the game yesterday, they talked about how the Bears were picking on Jimmy Smith, seems to me other teams are doing that to Conte. So maybe Wrong, at least in the pass, isn't as bad as Conte.

both need to go though, maybe keep Conte as a backup.
