I believe this draft will start out slow but more surprises as the first round goes on.
I'll predict the Browns give up 2 ones for Harbaugh and Manziel drops to 12.

The more I read about Ohio State's LB Ryan Shazier, the more it looks like a "Emery surprise pick". Stay tuned.

    obvious choices: Donald/Dix/Pryor/Gilbert/Dennard

maybe at 14 Emery doesn't get as crazy then he does at 19+; or maybe b/c that has created havoc w/a boom or bust ratio of 50% he's learned. if not look for the Emery swerve

    Nix/Hagemen/Fuller/Ealy/Shazier(to play S)

    1. Browns trade back into the top 10 and end up with Manziel and Evans.

    2. As far is surprises for us.... Hageman, Nix, Fuller (to play S), Jernigan,

    3. 2 of our first 3 picks are offensive players.

I am more convinced than before that we are going secondary with our first pick as much as I would like to see us put the nail in the coffin of our DL and just finish that up with a penetrating DT. I want to say S, but Emery is the kind of guy that if he does not see what he feels is value at 14 for a S, he won't do it. The Safeties are not rated as high as other years, so he may not spend the 14 on a S no matter how much he needs one. So it may be a CB.

    We'll find out soon enough.

Ok...I know I don't post in here much anymore, but here's my thinking....

If they are really gonna fix the defense and get younger, and because DT and DB are pretty deep, I can see the Bears picking Shazier or Mosley in the first. Then, I see them taking Deonne Bucannon, the S from Washington State in the 2nd, and then at DT in the 3rd, like Justin Ells from La Tech or Caraun Reid from Princeton.

    post here more often moodog!

I could see that or instead of Bucannon(Emery claims the S class isn't great) I could see them going for a bigger CB to convert to S.

That would go along with my double on safety idea because a lot of people are projecting Shazier as a SS.

I know everyone is enamored with Donald in the first. So am I...I see a Tommie Harris type of impact. But, if we go DT in the first, DB in the second, how deep is the LB position in the draft? I mean, DJ Williams is on a 1 year deal and Shea only has one year left and we don't really know what the Bears have with him, or even Bostic or Greene....and Briggs is getting up there. So, I really could see someone like Mosley come in and anchor the MLB spot for years to come..I think LB is just as big of a need as any other spot on D.

Two guys I am sure are on Emery's radar.

Jason Verrett- CB- TCU 4th best CB 26th overall (could be their number one)

Jimmy Ward-SS -NIU best SS 33rd overall

Would not be surprised to see Emery's "I'm smarter than you" first rounder being either of these two

Here's how they could get both.

    Bears trade down with Browns.

Browns give round 1-26 and 2-35 for Bears 1-14

If Donald is gone & maybe if he isn't, I like the idea of that deal. Would you take Ward or Bucanon @ 35 if they were both available? That would be a tough choice for me, but I'd probably go Bucanon.

A run on QBs before our pick.

Even though they all have flaws the teams with a need take a gamble on Bortels, Bridgewater and Manzel all before #14.

A small trade down in to the 18-20 range: buchanon with the first, Easley in the 2nd Desir in the 3rd and an offensive player with the extra 3rd

    My surprise:

Goodell rips off his shirt Hulk style and declares he's had enough internet criticism. "Come at me bro" is all that can be heard as he's taken from the stage by men in white coats.

likely to happen but the worst possible decision for at least 2 of those teams. I know the idea is if you don't have a qb, you cannot win, but I flip that and say if you get the wrong qb you cannot win. Bortles/Manzy/Teddy-Bside are not Manning/Rogers/Brees and won't help these teams to a title all alone. This is the probem, ya the teams need QB's, but they also have larger issues they are going to pass on, OL, skilled talent, D players all of which will contribute more in their careers then these qb's will. These qb's need to be on a team that is more well rounded then a top 15 pick team is.

I know some on here still have doubts about Cutler, but for those like myself that have been around long enough to see it (most of you), isn't it nice not to be one of those teams ready to give up a kings ransom to move up and pick a QB that you have little faith will amount to jack squat. Cutler may not be a top 5 QB, but man there are a lot of teams that have a HELLUVA lot worse than we do.

Exactly. 13 NFL teams would love to have Cutler as their starting QB.
